I have some cheaper 3m foam plugs which work great. Personally it took a month or so before I could have a tolerance for the pressure. Now I don't ride without them:)

You can get a sample pack of several different types of foam plugs from Aerostitch and see which ones work for you. Its a lot of personal preference for size and shape.

I don't ride any kind of distance without them. I picked up a big tube of foam ones that I wear on the bike or when shooting and they work ok. Stanley, I think.

I might be trading my CBR for a Magna this weekend, looking for something more suited to what I do, with luggage capability and more upright ergos. Problem is, he wants to trade straight up and I really don't want to trade without some cash from him. Decisions...

I need V4 noises in my life. Aprilia's are expensive and VFR's are a bit out of range too, so Magna it is. Just gotta find the right deal. I'm actually not enamored with the Magna looks, but it'd be blacked out eventually.

I use generic disposable foam plugs and they work just fine. Took a couple times to get used to them under the helmet but feels weird (and loud) to ride without them now.

Not so much the exhaust but even with my Shoei, I still get enough wind noise to bother me, so I like wearing the plugs. I can still hear my music as well as traffic noises just fine.

not sure if it's a shitty battery, a shitty trickle charger or what....

we had some mild weather yesterday so I took the bike out. Unplugged the charger from the bike, and went to start it up. Weak start but it did fire up. I went to the mall (about a 10 minute ride). Come back out, weak start again, this time too weak to start the bike. I get jumped off and go on my way. I then proceed to ride around, running about 6 grand minimum wherever I go. Stop at target, pick up some stuff. Come back out, bike fires up, much stronger start.

So... I'm thinking the battery charger is either a. defective/not doing its job or b. something is up with the battery when i try to put it on said charger.

Under normal riding frequency, I don't have this issue at all.

I have the Battery Tender Plus, and I have it setup:
battery terminals -> quick disconnect -> quick disconnect -> charger setup.
    http://products.batterytender.com/Chargers/Battery-TenderR-Plus.html

It does blink accordingly on a discharged battery, so I know the connections are not an issue...

I usually use the 3m earplugs (I have a box of 200 pairs for $20 on Amazon)

    https://www.amazon.com/3M-OCS1135-Y...rd_wg=HhQUm&psc=1&refRID=1567WXVMGX4C66T70T9F

Though I've been trying out the surefire EP4 earplugs as they are reusable. These SUCK for the shooting range (EP7s are a bit better), but they're good for riding around and keeping wind noise to a minimum. The only thing I don't like is they tend to get loose after a time, and require removing helmet, pushing further into ear.. this may be because I have the lanyard string attached to them tho. It's easier to do that though, because I can take them off and just hang them around my neck.

I also keep the little plugs plugged up though, if they are open the little plastic nipple will scratch on my helmet liner and makes a really loud scratching noise.. pretty annoying. But with them open they seem to still filter out the wind noise well (if you don't count the scratchy noises)

It's had the oil changed, but I'll do it real soon when I adjust the valves

Mines only a 250, but that helps keep me in somewhat in check. ..

Did 70 miles today with cheap foam plugs. Man, what a difference. I won't ride without plugs again.

One of the reasons I'm looking at the molded plugs is for longer ride comfort and not coming loose. Don't know if it will make any difference, but figure they are cheap so I'm not risking much to try them.

Can someone help with my potentially shitty battery problem? Any experiences?

My plan was to leave it OFF the trickle charger for a bit and try to start the bike in a couple days. If the battery is already dead, I'll check for parasitic draw or bad battery. Good plan?

FWIW I've never had foam plugs come loose on me, but if you remove them from your ears, toss them. They are pretty much useless after you put them in your ears more than one time. I take a couple extra pairs with me if I'm doing a day ride, for stops and stuff. That's why I'm testing the Surefire's.. they are easier to insert/remove and are reusable. So for they are okay if they would stop coming loose on me.

probably a bad battery. possibly charger too.

i use foam ones multiple times. as long as they dont get dirty they are good for plenty of uses imo

Recommendations on good chargers? I thought the Battery Tender brand was supposed to be good. If it kills two batteries, I'll know.

Also for me, I notice they don't like to puff up as much after compressing a few times, so that's why I toss them after 1-2 uses

i just use the cheapy ones from cyclegear. on year 3/4? them.

a bad battery also wont do any good on a charger. id plug it in and see what the voltage is at the battery when "charging"
