For those who are experts in this area, are these shocks worth it at this price or are aftermarket ones still a better deal?

I guess owners of TRD Pro models or guys that installed them can answer how the ride quality is. I'm still running the original shocks & springs so anything should be an upgrade for me.

 

I wonder how much labor would be to install these???

These are non-adjustable shocks if I remember correctly. Definitely still a nice kit but you'll potentially find a bit more customization and better value with an aftermarket setup if you plan on some other mods like winch bumpers, heavy steel armor, etc.

I'd recommend doing your own suspension install if possible because it's really pretty simple and teaches you alot about how all the components holding your truck up work together.

 

That kit is basically the 6112/5160 Bilstein combo, except as @Weap0nR said, the front shocks don't have adjustable lift height. Performance wise I'd imagine they should be about the same.

As a point of reference, I did my 6112/5160 install for this:

• 6112's: $570
• 3/8" Spacer: $12
• Install: Free (done myself)
• Driver's Side 5160: $130
• Passenger's Side 5160: $165

TOTAL: $877

I pieced everything together over time to get everything as cheap as possible.

As for performance, they're a substantial upgrade over the stock suspension in every way.

Toyota Dealer Cost is $532. That's what I paid as well. When you total all the component parts, springs, Bilstein reservoir shocks I don't think you can lose.

Nice. Local pick up or shipped? If shipped what was the shipping charge?

 

I love these shocks. Great ride quality with the larger fronts, and the rears can take much more of a beating with the RR. I highly recommend a 3-leaf AAL and the ToyTec top plate spacers when you're doing this, it'll level the truck and make it ride even better.

And I'm not gonna lie, those red coils are some great eye candy.

 

Is Toyota getting ready to discontinue this kit (what happens to people to actually own a Baja/TRD Pro)?

 

I'll jump in on this thread since it's specific to the 2nd gens...

I ordered my kit from Evans Toyota 2/2 and got it in 2/14. $640 shipped, Will install in the coming weeks and post impression and numbers. Will be going on a 15' DCLB Sport 4x4.

For the rear I will do an AAL with overload in because of my camper shell.
