I saw this on the Facebook group and was interested since i was about to order a 6112/5160 setup.

If the PTR13-35150 will yield a 2.3-3in lift like the 6112, then i am about to order them!

The 6112 gets 2.3” lift on the 3rd gens? So that would be like 3.3” compared to stock. I thought most maxed out at 2” on the 3rd gens

So, aside from lift how would these compare to the stock Bils on the OR in terms of ride quality?

Why is this thought process used? If it’s 2.3 inches of lift, it’s 2.3 inches of lift lol

Because that kit was made for 2nd gens. 3rd gens have 1" lift over second gens stock.

I believe these are basically tuned 6112/5125s made for the 2nd gen tacomas. Probably an upgrade for all except for Pro. Note that if a lift was made for a 2nd gen, you'll get 1" less lift with it on 3rd gen.

    Much better.

The 6112 is a 2.64" shock body, actually bigger than a King, Fox, Icon etc 2.5". More oil, bigger piston = better damping control, less prone to fade/overheat.

The rears are comparable to a 5160, and are a 5100 with remote reservoir. They will ride stiffer than the stock Bilsteins from the OR, but they will also be more supple, with better control. Hard to describe, but if you've ridden in a truck with Kings or Foxes, you'll kinda know what i mean.

Yeah sounds like a mod I would love, but my wife wouldn't dig. I already have to throw some extra weight in the bed so she doesn't complain about the bouncing even though I actually enjoy the ride of the OR and I am familiar with the ride of Kings and Foxes so I know what you mean by a more supple, better controlled ride for sure - it shows on some of the faster driving I do on on paved mountain switchbacks to get to the "fun" off road stuff ;)

The biggest upgrade to your rear ride quality would be a full leaf pack. 5100's, 5160's and the new 8112's are all excellent offerings from Bilstein.

i run King 2.5's all around on my first gen, and its like driving a Cadillac offroad.

Damn, for that price, im kind of wishing I went with these now instead of the 5100s I just ordered. Oh well.

So what exactly is the difference from the 6112 and PTR13-35150?

The 6112 are adjustable in height, like the 5100s.

PTR13-35150 is the kit that comes on the 2nd Gen TRD Pro which yields a 1” lift over stock to a 2nd Gen Tacoma. They are not adjustable either.

They will definitely be an upgrade in performance over stock on the 3rd gen, but I don’t know how much lift you will get. I would guess you would get the 1” up front and be leveled.

I believe Toytec offers a coil spacer that would move the lower spring perch up 1" which would essentially be the same as moving a clip on the 6112 up?

    http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com...JA-and-Pro-Edition-Tacoma-4Runner_p_1065.html

Also, i was looking for a difference in shock diameter between the PTR13-35150 and 6112. Anyone have any info on that?

I believe it’s the same diameter. At least in person they appear so, I use to have a 2015 TRD Pro.

At that point you would be better off just buying the 6112s. You get more adjustability and don’t have to pay additional money. The only benefit I see of going with the Pros is getting a Genuine Toyota part and that’s if you actually get a lift on the 3rd gen with them.

Nice find - this almost made me re-consider the 5100/887 set up, but based on the figures provided above it seems like it would be considerably less lift.

With the sale that is going on right now, I can get PTR13-35150 which includes front shock/spring and remote res rear shocks for the price of front 6112.

Given that the valving is tuned for a 2nd Gen, is there possibility this may be a performance downgrade compared to 6112?
