I know the M18 is awesome. I'm pretty sure that's what Gid has.

I've had Ridgid stuff for a while, and I am also a one brand/battery kind of guy, so I got their impact. It broke my axle nuts loose without a problem, so it does everything I need it to

Somehow you quoted it before I changed “pug nuts” to lug nuts. That would be one hell of a way to sterilize a pug.

Yep. That's the one i have. It's very impressive. Something like 1100 ft lbs of breaking torque. Independent tests show this rating pretty spot on. I also have their smaller impact (300ish rated torque), a drill and like 10 batteries. We use all Milwakee tools at work and I've always been impressed with them. The only comparison i have is Makita tools. I used a Makita impact on a daily basis for 6 years before the batteries died. Tools continue to work though. Fantastic small impact and hammer drill.

I went with the Milwaukee m18 impact for 3 reasons:
    1. It's a fucking beast (you'll see what i mean when you get it)
    2. I have access to countless batteries for it
    3. It has a 5 year warranty. By far the best on the market (I think next closest was 3 year)

Are you good enough to estimate torque applied by counting ugga duggas?

    I think it's 600.

Ridgid is lifetime on the tool and I think 3 years on the battery.

Just so we're clear, I'm referring to the m18 impact. I don't know the answer to this but does Ridgid make a comparable impact to it? When I searched, there were only a few close to the same capabilities with the similar features and all were 3 years or less on warranty. It's been a year or so since I've bought this too so I could just be ignorant.

No, not comparable to the M18. 1100 ft-lbs is hard to compete with. But 600 with a lifetime warranty and a cost of $130 worked well for me, and was compatible with tools I already had.

Buy me an M18 for my birthday.

I’m all in on DeWalt lithium ion stuff and love it. One battery type for 1/2” impact (1100 ft-lbs), 1/4” impact, drill, usb charger and heated jacket :D

My batteries have lasted 4 years and counting now. My dad still has some OG nickel metal DeWalt batteries that are 12+ years old and still hold up fine at the race track all day

We use the 20v lithium DeWalt at work. No complaints. Use that impact all day rigging buoys.

@Dave41079 gave me a small Milwaukee driver and battery. Another friend gave me a charger that has a dock for that tiny driver battery and the big 18v Milwaukee batteries. So I planning to build on that.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
I almost feel inadequate with my 12v porter cable tools now.
But they're good for woodwork projects.
