Just got done screwing around with the towing weights on my 2015 DCSB TRD Sport with the tow package... I used this spread sheet:
    http://fifthwheelst.com/rvtc_calculator.html
    Here are the #'s
GCWR: 11180 (max weight of truck and trailer)
GVWR: 5500 (Gross vehicle weight rating)
    GVW: 4200 (Truck curb weight)
    TWR: 6500 (trailer weight rating)
    Cargo and gear: 200
    Driver and passenger 320

What can I hook to the truck you ask???? #5200

Here's where it gets fun... Two guys, #450, bed full of junk #450
New rating for trailer weight??? #2666!
The junk we haul can quickly cut our capacity in 1/2!!! Don't just read the #6500 tow capacity and hook #6000 to the ball and drive.

Here are the specs for my camper:
    Dry Weight #3350
    Payload Capacity #1650
    GVWR #5000
    Hitch Weight #420
30 Gallons of water, #240, Propane, Battery, Clothes, Food, Beer? It all adds up. I am within specs, but with a few easy to make mistakes it is easily over the ratings. Will the truck do it? Yes! If you are thinking about a camper KEEP ALL OF THIS IN MIND!!!
Finally, yes I use a WDH brakes on both axles etc... Hope this helps someone!

    Played around with this one...

It places it in a little better position and allows for more weight in the truck. Either way it is a bit of a pain and kind of a guessing game for utility trailers with non-fixed loads. If you are looking at a camper it is pretty straight forward. The numbers for the truck are scattered in the owners manual and door tag. Camper I just got the specs off the inter webs.
