Hello, I've been working on a new system for my 2014, wanted to do something clean .
Started with the new kenwood excelon DNX 994s nav unit
The woofer enclosure, I went to mr.marv, But who else!
    Coated the enclosure with a sealer then 2 coats of Monstaliner 20170917_074641.jpg 20170917_075330.jpg 20170923_124030.jpg 20180208_140845.jpg 20180211_105735_001.jpg 20180211_123019.jpg 20180211_143312.jpg 20180212_123043.jpg 20180213_121922.jpg 20180214_143914.jpg 20180214_105618.jpg 20180215_102801.jpg 20180215_104426.jpg 20180214_131234.jpg 20180214_140756.jpg 20180215_104423-1.jpg 20180215_104426-1.jpg 20180216_135939.jpg 20180216_153040.jpg

    For woofers I'm using 2 jl 13TW5v2-4: 13.5-inch woofer
amps are 2 alpine pdx f6, and a alpine m12 for the for the woofers,
For the dsp I'm using the HELIX DSP PRO MK2 ,
, I've installed sound deadening floors doors back wall, doors are done inside and out, all door panels were also done,
All of the power wire is jl, speaker wire also,
Signal wire is the stinger 6k........
For the speakers I've ordered the Legatia se speakers
    Change of mind mid stream
I've got the Legatia 6.5 in hand but the mids and highs are being installed in the a pillars

A friend told me about how good the focal power speakers sound and how he was pleasantly surprised,
I Went down and listened to a set of the focal Utopia , I picked them up

So now I have installed the Utopia 6.5 drives in the front doors, and the mids and high into another set of a pillars,
So ill end up in the long run with a spare set of a pillars dressed out in Legatia se mids and highs

The Legatia se 6.5 will go into the rear doors, just for the mid bass fill
I've shaved brakets on the back wall
Had to do a bit of surgery to the storage bin under the rear seats to get the alpines in but it worked.
Here are a few shots of my progress

Today, I pulled the door panels back off,had to shave the ring that goes around the speaker grill on the inside and install a foam ring on the rear doors, also got the ground wires installed, ended up at 0.3 ohms at the amps and a big pile of wires20180217_121405.jpg 20180217_115851.jpg 20180217_115947.jpg

That's going to be a big, clean sounding system, and it looks great!

Just a word of caution on those specific PDXs... Just found out my PDX M6 output stage in fact went bad, and is what made my 13TW5V2 burn its coil. A couple other 'people on the internet' in various places have the same failure mode with their M6 or M12. The speaker output now provides a constant 43 VDC output regardless of whether there is any input music signal, or adjustment to the gain. None of the protection circuitry kicked in or anything to prevent further downstream damage. If you hear any loud turn on thumps - its the speaker pushing out or pull in all the way, and staying there. Lasted approximately 26 months or so.

I've totally disassembled my M6 now, and will be refreshing it with all new FETS - no burn marks or soot at all, but they all fail various transistor tests.

That's how mine was too - just went bad suddenly. Mine did run a little warm, borderline hot - and I noticed the datasheets boasting about the FETs being lead free. They probably can't handle sustain heat the way they used to.

I'll be sure to let everyone know whether it can be resurrected, part numbers, things like that.

Reliability aside, the PDXs are great sounding. And the OP's system will have an outstanding sound.

Super clean, did you deaden the roof?
Also the grommet right below the storage bins leads to a cross member with a pre existing threaded hole that fits an m8.

I never had a PDX fail, but had 2 different F4s get so hot I couldn't hold my hand on them. And that was on the bench with no signal. Had to cut the PDXs loose - replaced with XDs. Agree they sound great though.

Coming along nicely OP. I'd really like to hear this one.

    Ok It's up and running.
Sound good, needs settings gone though.
And now I need to ask for a favor. ....what would you do for the settings
Front highs high pass xover points low pass or just band pass ? xover type and slope phase,
Front mids high pass xover points low pass xover point xover type and slope phase
Front lows high pass xover points low pass xover point xover type and slope phase
Rear lows high pass xover points low pass xover point xover type and slope phase
Subwoofer high pass xover point or bandpass low pass xover point type and slopen phase

I know this is alot to ask but I really will appreciate the help, and I don't want to kill anything.
Focal Utopia °7 3 way up front
hat legatia in the rear doors
The big guys 13.5 jls for subs
    It sounds good already

    Looking good epiman!

I'd follow Focal's recommendations to get started if they're available. Set all phase to zero and go from there - massage as needed during tuning. But a good start might look like:

    TW: >3kHz
    Mid: 300 Hz - 2.5kHz
    Midwoofer: 100 Hz - 250 Hz
    Sub: <80 Hz

12/18 dB/oct slopes on the mids & tweets. Maybe something steeper for the sub. I'm using 24.

I'd also limit the rear bandwidth personally, but rear fill is a tricky biotch. I don't use it. The Helix is up to the task though.

I also like to use caps on my tweeters as protection. Lots can happen there - amp can throw a DC spike, you can fudge your wiring, you can fudge the input signals, etc. Something like a 100uF cap will keep you comfortably enough out of the passband to avoid phase issues while protecting those tweets from bad things. They're a buck fiddy each for a non-polarized electrolytic cap at Parts Express. Or buy something prettier and more expensive. Wire one in series on each tweet. You can use a smaller value if you like as these are kinda big. Mine are installed at the amp - more space there but they can go anywhere in the circuit.
