Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has any experience with using the Thule Xporter bed racks together with their roof top tent? The height adjust-ability appeals to me because I think I could lower the racks so the rtt is lower than the roofline for driving long distances and removing air-drag. But also raise the racks if I wanted the tent high enough to take advantage of the full height of the annex under the rtt.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I use the Xsporter for transporting a couple of kayaks. The adjustable height feature is kinda lost due to the shape of the bed sidewalls. The sidewalls taper in slightly and prevent the uprights from sliding all the way down. I don’t have a picture and I removed the rack for the winter.

Very true. With my Yakima mega warrior basket on top and the load bars limbo low the fairing was level with the roof line. I also had to sand blast and re-coat mine after two years on the truck. The factory finish was flaking off around the bases

I know of several people who have an RTT on those. Both are full size trucks with big tents too.

I had it with a cvt mounted to it. Great set up. I cut the posts so they lower down and are level with the roof.

That looks awesome. Eventually I’d like to do this, but I have a folding tonneau (bakflip G2) that sits flush with the bed sides, and completely covers the side mounting rails. Been trolling the internet for a year looking for a solution that will allow me to use both.

Kbvoodoo has bars that work with most tonneau covers, FYI.

I actually reached out to their sales rep. The tonneau cover needs to sit above the bed sides for the KBV brackets to fit. Unfortunately the bakflip sits flush with the top of the bed and doesn’t leave room for the bracket to mount or fit between.

Check Jason on the Primal Outdoors youtube channel... He uses Thule Xporters and swears by them.
