Correct, HF tools are not PRO tools. That's why I buy them, they've gotten my jobs done and have saved me thousands. :goingcrazy:

The 20$ rivet nut setter will not work for steel rivet nuts... It comes with aluminum ones so I should have known.

My old sanborn compressor seems to have a rod knocking. I've looked at several places with compressors. They ain't cheap. I'm looking at this: Anyone have one, any comments? I'm not a fan of HB, but this thing is way cheaper. I don't use a compressor as heavily as I used to. but I want one that will last til I'm dead.
Edit: I'm old, it may not need to last too long. :fingerscrossed:

I'm still thinking of getting this. All the coupons exclude compressors. Any way to get around this?

The precision tools for me were a no go...3/8 torque wrench was a piece of crap but it was so cheap it was worth a try and ended up returning it. Miter saw actually lasted a while and motor still worked when I threw it out but the miter adjustment broke. Don't trust their levels either.

I've been happy with HF sawzall...I think it was $20 and the thing works well. I have a ton of the free measuring tapes which break from time to time but who cares they are free! I like their heavy duty rubber gloves and work gloves too.

Not sure how accurate this info is, but my son who just started working at HF was told the Bauer line was going to be discontinued until it's re-designed. He was told the batteries are compatible with DeWalt and people were just buying up the cheap batteries.

Heard that before and they weren’t true, but seems to be the case now.

But - the HF batteries are inferior to the DeWalt, and I don’t think the prices are that different to skimp on them. Seems like that’s a poor use of funds for performance and longevity.

On the other hand, the HF batteries are pretty bare and don’t have the built in technology, so chances of problems are greater for both the battery and the tool.

If it was half price of DeWalt, I could see buying some cheap batteries for the value of it, but that isn’t the case with pricing.

Battery cells are lower quality, construction, circuitry and wiring is lower quality, the battery housing material is lower quality, etc.

There is a lot to lose at a similar price point. Any way you slice it, the Bauer batteries, though functional - are not the same value.

I've been waiting for that one to go on sale. I'm between that one and the floor jack style for working on the moto. At half the price and easier to store, I'm strongly considering this one: Plus it allows you to take the moto wheels off for maintenance.

It's versatile for sure. The only complaints I see about are that it isn't low enough to get under really low bikes (not a problem for me) and that the support rails could be a few inches longer (I'm sure I can make something to fix that). Other than that, just as good as any of their floor jacks.

You lucky bastards and your light bikes. I have a yellow hf Jack from a few years back and I used it to Jack my bike up once. Wiggled so bad I thought it was coming off.
