Didn't get as much done today as I hoped , had some unexpected freezing rain / snow that took a toll on my motivation this morning but I did get a bit accomplished

Set up my laminate trimmer and milled a rebate at the base of each post to allow for the weld on the knife plate between the knife and post base

Got all the posts fitted , made the tweaks I needed and then cut them all to the elevation I wanted

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I like the stones. How will they affect traction when they are wet? Do they get coated with anything?

How do you guys get clean finishes using white semigloss latex paint on trim? Used a fine brush and I reduced the marks as much as possible on the primed pine I picked up, thinking about using foam on the next round to compare results. I also saw some people go oil based because of how much better it levels out, or using something like floetrol on the latex stuff.

High quality paint, high quality brushes, and high quality rollers. And patience. Sand with fine grit between coats. cut with a brush and then roll over as much as you can. Spraying will give you smoothest results. Oil is hard to come by anymore, but high quality acrylic can yield similar results.

Hiring a painter sometimes seems unnecessary, however, I can tell you that when my friend (a painter of 15+ years) and I work together I am amazed at how many mistakes I make. Not mistakes like dripped paint or over run, but rather mistakes of what brush to use, what base paint to use etc. those folks really know the ins and outs of the finer parts of painting. Hiring a painter is SOUND advice.

It's sheet pebbles. I cut the sheets into odd shapes and then pulled stones off to fit in between, helps to lose the sheet look and make it look better imho
