Check out my new enclosure! And an Amp Q

So i have been working on this enclosure the last few days. I dont really have any assembly/construction photos (i got to carried away with getting it done) but here is the finish product, preceded by a semi-finished uncarpeted picture.


I think it turned out sweet. It allows me to still use the rear seats, it also doubles as a killer armrest. It comes out to roughly .9cuft. Im installing an idq10d4v.3.

Now for my amp question, Im running the sub listed above as well as ID ctx65cs components up front. I will be running my rears off HU power for now. What 4-channel can you recommend to run this set up, or should i spring for a 5-channel for eventually amping my rears? what can you recommend based of experience?

IDQ10 RMS is 500watts
CTX65CS RMS is 100watts

so 700 watts rms total

Alpine PDX-5
JL HD900/5
Powerbass ASA1100.5x
haven't looked into any 4 channels yet

Budget <$400
I know there are many more amps and opinions so i would like everyone's input. i listed to alot of everything, mostly country and rock, not really any rap. I think that is all the information you might need. Thanks!

What impedance is the IDQ sub?

 

It is dual 4 ohm. I plan on wiring it to 2 ohm impedance.

 

If you only plan to run a front set of speakers and a sub (good idea) you can get away with a beefy 4 channel. Other than that, get a 5 channel like the PDX5 and go at it.

Will running a 4 channel and bridging two of the channels to run the sub limit the capabilities of my HU's (kenwood excelon 994) eq options? Will i be able to adjust the "subwoofer" contol or will i just be adjusting the rear two channels to for my sub control? thanks

 

You would just run the outs from your HU that are labled "sub" to the rear channels of the amp. You would not be limiting your eq setting from the HU if you ran it this way. If you ran the rear outputs to the amp, then you would be limiting the EQ settings for the subs.

First and foremost you should be banned for not getting dimensions, build pics. Secondly...900/5

 

You can get a PDX-5 for under $400, but no way on the 900/5. I wish I could afford a 900/5, but they are steep!

 

Ha ha well i have all the dimensions, you never asked. overall dimensions are 14.5" wide x 20.25" deep x 20.75" tall. The sealed portion for the sub is a little more complicated dimensions as there are a few angles that come into play. Luckily, i have the whole project drawn to scale so i can do it again

HD900/5 is much better than the PDX5 but its $700 online and I got a quote for $75 from a dealer. The sub gets 500W no matter if its 2Ohms or 4Ohms with the HD900/5. I could actually hear a difference in sound quality between a PDX5 and HD900/5. Otherwise I would not have decided to spend the extra money. If you can save more money up get the HD900/5.

I think with carpet and glue, a full 4x8 of mdf, right around 55 dollars or so. i have plenty of glue left to do one or two more tho. And as far as mdf, a 4x8 sheet is enough for 2 enclosures. it took 2 evenings to build it and an hour to carpet it. The most time spent was getting the dimensions i wanted.
