I should change my vote. Ever since seeing those food pics, I've been snacking bad all night!

 

Sounds fun! Was gonna ask how the boat was going. You get your shop/home all networked and wireless?

Not much new here. Still adjusting to the sun. It's bright!

 

Considering going float pool when I go back.

 

Better hours? Can't be less hours, that's for sure. But why?

 

Hope they pay well. My system pays prn float about twenty two more dollars an hour than I make as a regular bedside.

 

A lot of them in there seem to like it.

 

What is "float pool"? When it was 1st mentioned, I thought is was for physical therapy. I'm not the brightest.

My holiday off last night but up at 4am per usual

 

Know the feeling.

 

Just got bumped back to graveyard.

Pros:
-4x 9 hour shifts a week (3 "day" weekends, f*** yeah!)
-Get paid for 40 hours

Cons:
-Fat chance of overtime which I would really like right now

 

Still nights, but not every weekend like I’m doing now. Less involment in the political, normal drama that goes on. I’d also see more things than working on only one type of unit.

It’s a decent amount more than base. The more hospitals you’re willing to travel to the more money. Mind me asking which system you’re with?

I sometimes wish I had went in to physical therapy. Float pool you travel to other hospitals working. No set one or unit.

 

I work for chs, I don't know how your willingness to work at other hospitals plays into pay here. But I do know they get paid well, especially prn, if you can get insurance somewhere else. They do earn it, always seems as though float nurses get stuck with crappy assignments.

 

We have the option of doing either 3 or 5 hospitals. Doing 5 pays more. Yes, they typically get the crappy assignments.

 

Hate doing it! But arc will go were others can't

 

Kinda like on-call with out on-call pay. Some get schedules. They cover for vacations and call ins.

 

Ours cover just our hospital and the out of town ER.

 

Other than getting molten metal in my boot or other places that it should never go.... I actually kind of enjoy it.

 

We had a guy laying on the floor cutting something, didn't put earplugs in, had some slag go in his ear. He can't hear on that side any longer.
