My 2016 Taco Sport has this - Great Feature ! Combine this with the PROPERLY PLACED HAD BREAK and you are good to go without concerns that you are going to put an imprint of your back bumper in the grille of the vehicle behind you. Only other improvement would be to install and over-ride switch that will enable you to use Low Range in 2WD. - Clay

When I met my wife she was driving a Mustang with 4 on the floor - Every vehicle we've had has been a manual. It took a 2018 4-Runner to convince her to leave our 2010 Camry with a 6 Speed Manual. At least I have my 2016 Taco with a MT !!

Amazing how many people feel they must buy whats on the lot. Do your research and tell the dealer what you want...if they want your money, they will order it for you...if not - WALK AWAY!. My last several Toyota's have been done that way. It took me 4 months to get my 2010 Camry with a 6 Speed manual! - Clay

The dealers will always want the easy way out to get your money -- sell what is on the lot = instant cash in your pocket. For me, it's order exactly what you want. If a dealer forgets I'm the customer paying with "my money", then its out the door I go to another dealer. I have no issue waiting 6 to 8 weeks to get a vehicle I want with under 3 miles on the ODO.

    I have an 05 TRD 4x4 with a 6MT. I bought it in 08 with 65k miles on it.

Since I was a child, I've been into mechanical things. A manual transmission makes me part of the car's mechanical function. Otherwise, it's just a commuting machine, which bores me. When I saw the pic of the stick shift in the ad, I immediately hit the guy up. It was a selling point, and I was determined to get this truck.

Back in 2012 I was going to get a silver trail edition T4R. Salesman tried really hard to sell me one of the black SR5s on the lot. After about 6 hours, they "found" the T4R I wanted about 150 miles away. After a week, they couldn't deliver.

I LOVED the pre refresh 5th gen trails editions. Before I purchased my Limited I searched all over for a classic silver trail or a shoreline blue pearl trail. They essentially were non existent. Settled for a limited.

Traded that in on the 6MT taco.

They had a used 2012 TE on the lot for 30k. But it was sold before I got there. They left the ad up to draw people in.

Just hold the TRAC Off switch for 3sec at a stop. It turns off TRAC and hill start.

Wondering if your truck is doing the same thing or if this normal. Never had a 4x4 MT truck before.

Everytime I am on 4x4 Lo Or Hi turning Left or Right, I have to rev it high for my truck to move. It looks like it's locking and doesn't wanna move.

DON'T DO THAT. it's normal, as in, "the normal way to break your shit".

Thank you for your reply St. Germain.
If I won't rev it, I won't be able to move while I am turning. I was looking at youtube trying to see how to use the 4Lo and 4Hi.

I had a Denali before it's AWD. I do not have to adjust it.

AWD is very different than parttime 4wd. You do not want to be doing turns on wet or dry pavement while in 4Hi or 4Lo. Snow, ice, gravel, grass, etc. are fine. Loose surfaces.

Don't do that on DRY pavement. Normal for 4x4 to resist turning (w/ 4x4 engaged) but is ok in dirt, snow, mud, etc., anything slick. Yes it takes higher revs when working.

right. AWD does not equal 4x4. treat your 4x4 like AWD and you'll likely break it. our systems are not for full 4x4 use on high grip surfaces like dry tarmac.

Hmmm... Drive in 4WD for 10 mi. each month. Looks like I just took up off-roading.

Do most people really do this? My guess is... no.
