I had the pleasure of working with GearOne Performance in West Chester, Pa to test out the new ecu/trans tune they put out for our trucks. They installed my lift/tires a year ago and since then I have been wishing my truck had a little more low end power, and would actually stay in 6th gear on the highway! Well this tune has been a great help towards both of those issues we all deal with. You can see on the dyno graph below the truck got a decent bump in power, and it comes on much sooner. Driving around town is SO much nicer having that extra torque down low. The driving manners on the highway are also night and day. No more downshifting into 4th for no apparent reason, and it will actually stay in 5th/6th instead of constantly trying to find a comfort zone. I haven't had the chance to calculate it, but I'm assuming this will help me out in the mpg area with all the highway driving i do.

On top of the tune being awesome, they are a great shop to deal with. They have done all the work on my Tacoma and also a few things on my C5 Corvette. Check them out on facebook/instagram and you can see they are quite a bit more than your average local shop, I'm pretty lucky to be right around the corner from these guys.

I don't think they have the tune listed on their website, but shoot them a FB message or email and I'm sure they can give you all the details! https://www.instagram.com/gearoneperformance/?hl=en

What does it involve? Just a new CPU program or open hood surgery on the engine?
Is it less/same/better than the ECT? Reprogram is on location in the shop only or is it something we can do in our states?

    Too much.
This all day long. Is this a flash. Does it override the learning transmission. Is it home written. How is it accomplished. Not enough info. Dyno looks pretty decent. Cost? Is it a drive to PA thing?

In for info. Is this a piggy back unit, a ECU re-write, etc?

This is all the info I can find from their post
"Wrapped up the trans and ECU tune on this Tacoma today. This tune will get rid of that sluggish feeling when accelerating from a stop as well as fix the gear hunting the Autos experience."

I wonder if the tune will resort back to the dumbed down mode after its "learning" mode takes back over.

This looks positive, decent gains. Be nice if they had a kit for it rather then in shop work.
Gives me hope, maybe find a shop in Portland.

Seems like a custom one off tune; as they should be since not all motors are exactly the same. This is a huge gain for a tune if that dyno is legit.

Some say that this tune will turn your tacoma into an 80 hot hatch

am I reading the graph correctly in that there is 150% more torque at 2100 RPM , 100# feet vs 40 # feet ? If so that is incredible .

I was always told dyno typically aren't accurate in these lower RPM ranges, so take those lower numbers with a cup of salt. Regardless, there appears to be some torque gains in the lower RPM compared to stock tune.
