Great idea, thanks. I never really thought to look, but where does the water drain?

And if you're lucky, they'll ship it to you in a cardboard box!

Don't think I can do this mod, putting the truck in the shop.

The cardboard idea is pretty cool, but why not just throw the bed mat onto the ground and crawl around on it?

It's very "grippy" due to it being rubber and a bit heavy for some.

That's a good idea. When we get lots of snow while I'm out, I pull the mat out and leave the snow there. Then the snow doesn't turn into water in my garage.

Will this void warranty on truck?
Great idea. Thank you for sharing

There are drain holes in the bed, if you keep them cleaned out then water will never puddle in your bed.

No warranty on the cardboard. Or the bed mat. So no worries.

Unless the dealer claims your leaf spring failure was due to the cardboard.

    Then worry.

Front corners have drain holes. If truck is parked nose up, it runs out between the tailgate and the bed.

If in a downpour and open bed, parked nose down, the drains likely won't keep up. So be careful how much you spend on your cardboard. ;)

Appliance store, refrigerator box, cut out one side if you want one large bit.

I like the yoga mat idea someone mentioned above. I have an unused one laying around too. My bed has a large toolbox and other items in it at all times, so lifting the bed mat isn't always an option.

As for the one that mentioned throwing the bed mat down, the thing is a bit annoying in size and weight to deal with. One wants to just get the job done and move on when it comes to roadside work. Something quick like the cardboard or yoga mat suggestions are good ideas.

What size cardboard is that? Did you have to trim the tail gate to get it to fit? Can you run 35s with that cardboard? Did this mod add rear disk brakes? Can you use that cardboard to electrically raise and lower the driver seat? Does the cardboard add any mpg? Does the cardboard filter oil from the pcv? Does the cardboard let dirt into the engine? Does the cardboard keep rainwater out of the intake during heavy storming?

Great idea that I will probably copy. With my luck, however, the only time I would need the cardboard is when I have the bed loaded with gear and can't get it out.

    Here's what I use.....Track Mat

I usually run with the back seats folded down, and that plastic is very slippery.....
I bought this to put on top of the folded rear seats....It's only 4" short of fitting perfectly, door to door and perfect F to Back.
It doubles as a kneeling pad for flat tire changes, sliding under, etc.... Top side of it is fuzzy and a lot like carpet and the bottom is smooth and plastic-covered....(slides under the truck with me on it)....

Kinda pricy, but a very nice product.
