It’s just a little plastic piece that’ll pop right out. I actually color matched them quicksand color.

I just went slow with a pocket knife and didn’t put too much pressure on any side of it. Came right out and popped right back in when I was done.

I've been wondering how my truck will look with dark wheels......this thread is killer.

Each of your trucks look really good.

I may have to give this method a try.

Please forgive my ignorance.....I'm new to this plastic-dip stuff, but, how do you take care of the wheels moving forward after you dip them ???

Will the stuff hold up to pressure washing ?

Hand wash with soap and water okay?

Will tire shine products damage the plastic-dip ?

I really like the looks of those black rims and you guys have me strongly considering doing so.

I just wash the wheels like normal and don't really do anything special to them.

Normal wheel washing for me involves a 1,500psi pressure washer.

Will the plastic-dip stay on the wheels during it this way ?

I will say no it won't last with that amount of pressure.

    none yet
I did the wheels on my old titan and they lasted for 2 years without touch up.
regular washing and with two coats it is safe to pressure wash. if you go to Plasti dip
web site you will see actual demonstration videos. you can do them on or off the truck
depending on how detailed you are going. even after 2 years of driving in winter and
being parked outside 24/7 ( to big for garage) the wheels looked good and I did peel
the dip off before I traded the truck in for my Tacoma. It comes off easy enough and
any remnants are easily removed with micro fiber towel. that removes over spray as well.

good luck and don't be afraid to take a stab at it.

I did my wheels two years ago and they held up fine.

I was wondering if anyone has used Dupli-Color Truck Bed Coating, Dupli-Color Rocker Guard, Rust-Oleoum Truck Bed Liner, 3M Gravel Guard or even VHT Wrinkle Plus Paint for their bumper caps or grille bezel? I like the rough, textured look and feel of bedliner and wanted to see if anyone had experience with these inexpensive DIY sprays and whether or not they are a viable option.

How are people's wheels holding up off road? Nothing crazy over here, but do a couple quick flying rocks chip it easily?

Picked up a set of stock 2013 OR wheels for $100 and used the rustoleum rugged sand color on them. Used the plasti dip black for the center caps. I think they turned out well!! Getting tires installed and mounted on truck Monday! I will post pics of how they look on truck then too.

Tires are mounted. Can I get everyone’s honest opinion? I’m hoping they fade a little because they look a lil yellow to me.

Plan on knocking this out one day this week, I've seen the video showing how to utilize a garbage bag to leave the wheels on... is it that much easier than just taking the wheel off? What do you guys prefer?

I took mine off and atmouralled the hell out of the rubber, then cleaned the rims then sprayed. Drove it to loosen the plasti on the rubber, razor to cut at the rim:thumbsup: No need to mask anything.

Did you remove bumper caps or tape off really good? I honestly don’t want to remove bc of that tiny clip I heard you can’t get back on unless you remove the middle bumper. If you did just tape off, you have pictures of the method you used? Thanks!
