I posted a thread on my custom knives that I make in my shop over in the off-topic section. I recently made 10 knives, 8 out of O1 tool steel and 2 out of 5160. I get quite a few requests locally for them, so 5 of the 10 are already spoken for and are going to their new owners this week. Thought I'd post the rest of them here first to see if anyone on TW is interested in them. You can read my post in the off-topic section if you want some insight on how I make them.

All knives are priced as shipped CONUS only, all have leather sheaths and will come with a oil soaked cloth for wiping down the blade. I tell my customers to never store the blade in the sheath, leather holds water, so when they are stored off season, it's best to wipe them down and keep out of the sheath. The canvas micarta is buffed to a smooth finish on 2 of the knives.

I would classify these as hunting or general outdoor use knives. But they are knives, so you can use them however you feel they'd be good for.

Tape measure is to show overall length.

All prices are best offer. If you are interested in one, make me a reasonable offer.

I got a lot interest but seems that a lot of people don't want to spend that kind of money on a knife so I lowered the price. Blowing these out so that I can make room for the next batch.

I've never tried to make a sheath for a boot. If I had a specific knife to make the sheath around, and had a boot style sheath to model one after, I could do it.

Boot knives are usually pretty thin I think. Just not sure what a boot sheath looks like. I can certainly google it, but I'd need the knife to make a sheath for one.

Thanks for looking at my knives though. #4 was sold tonight, but it wouldn't make a good boot knife anyways because it's a pretty decent size, and has full size handle.

Well let me know what you can come up with sheath and knife, I only seen daggers for boot knives but not into them. Thanks, you do make good looking knives

Mine got delivered today, this thing is a piece of beauty! Outstanding quality for the price, I couldn't be happier. Glad I went with the 3/16" thick, it's got a nice weight to it without being encumbering. Can't wait to get out camping with it.

You know it! I've got it shaped and the fun of baking it for four hours twice and quenching it begins. How would you feel about a red colored wood handle?
Thinking madrone heart wood. Super dark red and very hard.

I have, but the problem is if I go too thin, there's a possibility that it can warp during quenching. I try to stay at 1/8" minimum. If I decide to start doing stainless, I can go thin because it's plate quenched.

Never made one. If I buy a PID controlled heat treat oven I may give that a shot though.

We use a pyrometer in a toaster oven. It's a little redneck but works awesome. Do you use a gas forge or coal? We also have both and seems easier with gas for everything. Although I hand made a few digging picks for metal detectorists and the coal forge was the perfect set up.

I have a PID controller converted toaster oven for tempering, just don't have a PID controlled heat treat oven. I used a propane brick forge. It heats up fast and holds heat very well, just hard to regulate the temperature for the exact temperature for complex metals. For carbon steels it's great though.
