There is no crossover per se but the tweeter has a small capacitor that acts as a HPF for the tweeter only. It is soldered directly on the tweeter itself, so it does not remain when you disconnect the tweeter's harness.

There are inline crossovers available. You'll probably want to choose one that best fits the tweeter you purchased. Scroll down this page to see what Crutchfield has available.

    https://www.crutchfield.com/shopsearch/car_crossover.html

I simply swapped speakers. No amp. And I applied Noico sound dampening to the doors while I had them apart. Looks like the Infinity Reference speakers I purchased over the Black Friday sale are no longer available. Perhaps they are discontinued items. These were all half price if I remember correctly.

Thanks again!!!! Think I will end up calling Crutchfield and getting a set of Kickers with the tweeter and crossovers specific to them.

    Last few questions:
    1. Did your install result in better sound?
    2. Did the Noico reduce road noise any?

I thought the factory audio sounded decent in my 2014 TRD Offroad. Though at levels about maybe 35, the low end started to disappear. The Infinity speakers I went with hold solid sound the whole way through, and can handle much more power if I decide to add an amp in the future.

The Noico has helped with road noise. Though I think it will be more noticeable once I add it to the back wall.

Just finished my install of the Amazon / Subaru dash tweeters and Kicker CS series from Crutchfield as detailed in the original post. I am very happy with the results. In the past when I cranked the stock speaker system I would get LOUD to the point of annoying my ears. Now I can crank it and get louder SOUND instead of just loud if that makes any sense. I tried different inputs and different types of music to see the differences. I found I had to go back and adjust my previous sound setup. I found I could adjust the bass, mid and treble and get more fine tuning than stock. I now notice acoustic guitar sounds much clearer. Not just the initial strumming of a string but it tailing off as well.

I am not a high end car audio guy but for the money it is definitely worth it. Like others said the stock speaker are lightweight. They seem to weight about the same as the speaker adapters that came with the Kickers. Yes that seems like a gross exaggeration until you actually remove yours. I bet the lug nuts from one tire weigh more than all 4 speakers stock.

Well, Subaru tweeter installs went well last night. Took 15 minutes a side. I tested the waters a bit by loosening the front panel without removing the pillar covers and I'll be honest with you, whoever said or suggests you can do that and not damage the panel or snaps is either brave, foolish or lying. I could tell very quickly that going that route was going to cause more problems. So I snapped them back in, took the extra 5 minutes to remove the pillar covers and carefully moved them out of the way.

I will say that you do not need to remove the rubber seal trim. If you're careful, the panel will simply pop a little and come right out and putting them back in is a simple matter of taking your removal tool and tucking the plastic underneath the rubber trim. The tweeters were stupid simple to remove, unplug, and get back in. Snap the covers back in, snapped and bolted the pillars back in place and the whole thing looks like it was never touched.

I'm waiting for the Noico to show up so I can add some mass to the doors for the Focals. Once that shows up, then I'll do a write up of that process to share with you all. I know a lot of you have done this, but this is my second new truck and I am super excited with my planned mods for it. Also, the tweeters sound really good. I was expecting a marginal improvement to them, but man, even with the Entune 7" 18 watt RMS output they really stand out nicely. Especially in spoken word outputs. It's like that person is sitting there right with me. Thanks to the OP for suggesting them. It worked out fantastically.

I think after some deliberation that I'm going with this https://www.bestbuy.com/site/kicker...age/9999273700050008.p?skuId=9999273700050008. It will be full Kicker install and pretty budget friendly. Will power all my recently installed speakers and offer a bit more bass with the hideaway. Plus I don't have to install it.

I really like the stealth box, or a JL 10W3 box, but I don't think I really need all that and then none of my local audio places wanted to really do anything budget. The cheapest Stealthbox install w/ 5 channel was $1550. That isn't too terrible, but I just want decent sound and then move on.

Subaru tweeters installed today, very nice improvement. Popping those cover panels off still makes me cringe but all went well, did take off both A piller covers, makes it much easier.

If I get the Kicker Speakers at Crutchfield from first post, can I go ahead and install the speakers to the speaker mounts they provide, before I take the doors off? I hear some of you saying wait for alignment (so you don't have to take the speaker back out of the mount), but if you know the connector is up on top, can't you go ahead and assemble the speaker with the connection at the top.

Make sure and give us a review once you get all of that installed. I'd be quite interested in going the same route.

The connector is on top for the front doors. The rear (access cab) connectors are top but toward the center latch not hinge. So say 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock if that makes sense. Not sure about double cab.

It literally takes a few minutes so not much is gained by doing it in advance.

Well. This thread almost saved me some money. Alas I went with upgraded speakers and will be paying for someone else to deal with the install.

I had the Hideaway and an alpine power pack in my F150. It’s was great. I’ve installed the Hideaway in my Tacoma, waiting to install the Powerpack for when I get new speakers. Interested to hear how you like the setup.

If I got this, would you also have a 4 ch amp on top of this? At the moment I have the CS door speakers front and back, and the kicker dash tweeters.

The Hideaway has it’s own amp built in. The Alpine Powerpack is a small 4 channel amp. That’s all I’ll be installing.

If you’re comfortable installing yourself, you can get both of those products for a little over $300 from other sources.

Thanks I pulled the trigger on Best Buy. Yeah looks like Hideaway is $189 on Amazon and amp $159. I’m just being lazy.

I like your method on the sound deadner. On the second picture did you run the connector behind the door to the speaker, or just cover it with the noico.

Can someone do a small write up on how these Metra mounts are suppose to work? This should be straight forward but I cant figure out how to mount the Kicker speakers to the mounts...no hardware came with the front mounts.
