Might take this to my friend with the waterjet. He might've mentioned that he had a brake press too.
I'll need to grab the dimensions from https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/weak-tailgate-reinforcement-solution.29117/page-3 can't see the picture at work, and send them with him. I'm going to find another CAD program for drawing this stuff up, then I can start designing a whole lot of parts for our trucks. :D Gonna be first on my list after I finish this work bench project. I'll throw up some pictures of that after work too.

One singular piece would be better....metal by the foot or someone could get you on piece.
Trial and error......but several make the tailgate caps....

Ah, I just noticed it was only 2'. Thanks for pointing that out. True, but if I can do it for under $50 I'm saving myself money in my mind. Time is no issue, money is. Mobtown sells it for $80 + shipping, KB Voodo is $95 + shipping, and Relentless Fab's is the full tailgate at $149 + shipping. I'm a cheap ass, but I'm going to make it out of 14GA steel all the same as the vendors. So its same quality, just more steps to get there. Then I'll probably end up spraying it with liner or something. I don't know, just sounds like more fun to make it my own. I might go as far as making some small cubbies in the gaps of the tailgate frame if I reskin the whole thing. Now that's something new.

Just checked metal by the foot, on their website they don't carry 14 ga, 3/16 is the thinnest they have. I might give them a call tomorrow morning and keep looking around.

EDIT: NVM I found it under sheet not plate.

What do you think about a reinforcement plate that had storage like this? I'd round the edges on the backsides so you wouldn't get corner punctures if your tailgate got dented from the backside. I'd think it'd add to the rigidity of the back skin too. Add some foam glued to them between the skin and the bottom of the cubby as well. Thoughts? Would anyone be interested in something like this? I don't know how much actual space there would be until I do some measurments. I'd think it could be sealed and used to store first aid supplies.
Not my truck if anyone was wondering lol

I was also thinking of designing some driveshaft tunnels that could serve as trail armor, as well as maybe some two piece driveshaft drop brackets to fix driveline vibrations in lifted trucks as an alternative to one piece shafts.

Yeah, I am not anywhere up to date. The thing just looked brand new, not a blemish anywhere.

I'm a merchant mariner currently on ship and wont be getting off for 6 weeks. I could pick it up if need be but would much rather have it shipped to me. I Would forever be in your debt! Yea, I’m already working with someone on here willing to do it for me. Of course I’m sending the cash first via PayPal. The only risk there is all on my shoulders. It sucks we have to worry about things like this. I’m willing to just put myself out there and trust someone I’ve never met before. There are still good quality people out there. Tacomaworld Express is filled with good guys willing to help another Tacomaworld memeber out, for that Im grateful . Being that it’s a rare item, I’ll keep what it is to myself and the individual picking it up for me ;)

If any of you are looking at the remote start, I will say use a referral for me haha. I have the 12.volt solutions remote start for Tacoma (complete plug and play). I called them with a small issue from mine, and they are sending me a new harness free of charge. Yeah, I am plugging a company but I think that is awesome they answered with no hassle and free of charge replacement.

I would but I wish there was a way to bypass the "open door > shuts it off" thing.

On another note, a TW'er that works for autoanything hooked me up with a sweet deal on inchannel vent-visors for the dc. Gonna order tonight. First mod? Lol

I have thought about those for summer time to just minimize the interior heat and those are nice to be able to crack the windows. Take some pics once you get them on. I searched out those 4 runner wheels on Craigslist and I guess they got snagged up.
