need some suggestions, insites or other info about getting a car port.

Usage will be when we go to Music festivals or group camping situations. We typically will have 2 or 3 easy ups strung together, and it's time to replace at least one if not 2 of the ones we use. Currently we already have two festivals lined up, with a 3rd possible.

The other use will be to use when I need to do a project at home, such as replacing the stereo in the wife's car (1st on my list this year) or what not as I don't have any sort of garage to keep me out of the rain or hot sun.

    What do you think.

I've got a Harbor Freight unit that the '69 is currently parked in, and also a Shelterlogic model that I keep the tractor in that's about 4 years old and needs a new cover already. It's leaked for 2 years and is now torn so it leaks a LOT, lol.
The biggest obstacle that I see for you using them as a 'take down & set up someplace else' is that they're not that compact even when you break them completely down to their individual parts (the box is about 5 -6 feet long, 18 inches wide, and 6 inches deep), and they take a couple of hours to set up from scratch.

In terms of setting them up and leaving them in place, they're not bad, but not overly roomy either. They also hold moisture like crazy, unless you leave one of the doors open.

Edit- The Shelterlogic is this model, a 10X20, and cost around $300-350 at Aubuchon.

The Harbor Freight I bought because I wasn't impressed with how long the cover for the Shelterlogic model lasted, so I figured I'd see if the Harbor Freight model lasted any better, since it was basically half the cost (bought it with one of their 20% off coupons for $160 this past summer)

I have the second canopy you posted. I don't think I paid that much for it, but it was also 10-12 years ago when I purchased it. Seems reasonable by today's prices. I love mine. I used it to work on my 60 beetle over a 1.5 year span. When it snowed, I made sure to get the snow off of it, as it is not intended to hold the weight of snow on the roof. I bought 4 4X8 sheets of plywood to use as the floor. Overall it worked well. If you leave it up for any length of time, spiders and other creatures will call it their home as it is not completely sealed. I called it my poor man's garage. I have also used it as what you want to use it for. I set it up for son's and friend's graduation party, and it works really well when you have flat surface. The tubing is powdercoated and has held up well. It is easy to put up and take down-takes some time though. Just do one side first and then the other. The material of the tent has held up well. The side windows do not open, so you may want to consider that in the summer, but the sides/ends roll up. I bought long skinny stakes for the feet that were about 1.5 feet long. The feet have not held up. They are plastic and become brittle. Overall I think it was a good purchase and would be great for what you want to use it for. Good luck in your search.

thanks, the setup is once concern for sure, I don't plan to keep it up over the winter, but I am sure my laziness or desire to keep something out of the weather will take over.
You say the sides can be rolled up? That is a big part of the need, that way we can have them rolled up while at a festival, but beable to drop the sides quickly if it rains or we want to close up to go see tunes.

Yes, the sides on mine roll up and are secured with Velcro. Works well. Just make sure you have staked to the max if you have one side open and the other closed or it wind will take it away if you encounter a big gust.

I have set up several ShelterLogic and I highly recommend them! They are located in CT, save on shipping, and make a trip out of it!

The oldest one is 12 years, i replaced the cover at 8 years....I didn't clear the snow off it in time and it ripped (there was about 4' of snow on it).

I have found the last few years that if you put a tarp over it in the winter, it helps the snow slide off.
