Yes those have to be removed for the lower half to fit.

Can you elaborate what you did here? I just read this far into this thread to find some pic's of how people beefed up their mounts w/out buying the beefier plates. Looks easy enough to make myself.

I just noticed this today, anyone else’s rear bumper like this ? It’s at least 3/4” off on side to side

Cut 1/4" plate in the shape of the frame mounts and drill for the bolt holes. Grind backs off factory studs and punch through to remove. Put 1/4" plate on and tighten down with new 1/2" grade 8 hardware. Weld plates and head of bolt (backside of plate). Reinstall bumper and tighten down with the new nuts. Boom, beefier bumper mounts. Also would recommend bolt on wrap around side bumper supports for heavy recoveries

How much of a step does that rear bumper provide? I need a new rear but being able to stand on it to access the top of my shell is more important to me than departure angle.

I'd also prefer the hitch below the bumper so I don't have to deal with the license plate.

It was frustrating trying to diagnose it I removed the lower half an it bounced off my glasses glad I always wear them. Just need to notch the ac line an I’ll be good an install my way to many lights.
