Yukon vs Nitro Gears

So it seems as though Yukon has come out with 4.88 gears for the 3rd gen. -- from speaking to a bunch of Jeep folks they seem to really think that the Yukon are much better.

Thoughts? Pro/Cons to either?

 

My gear guy who owns 3 gear shops said he loves nitros and they dont even need to be broke in. But he said he tells his customers to follow standard break in times for his warranty of service to apply. He specifically said their way nicer than yukons. Thats just his 2cents. Try asking in the 4.88 mega thread.

 

I had never heard of Nitro until looking in to gears for Tacomas recently. Yukon has always been the gold standard, coming from off-road, diesel, etc world that I have dabbled in.

 

Just ordered some 4:88’s from east coast gear. They recommend Yukon over Nitro based on less noise they have seen with Yukon.

so I went with Yukon... anyone hear of one making more noise than the other?

 

jumping on here a bit late, just ordered the 5.29 from Yukon, so I'll report back once I get mine. Went with them cause I get deals thru 4WheelParts and if they install, they warranty better than the Toyota dealership I work at. @rag9836 how are you liking the Yukon 4.88s you put on yours?

So I ended up not being able to source any Yukons after all, but managed to snag a set of 5.29 from Nitro. So far so good! Lost more MPGs than I expected, but doing a lot of fine tuning with ovtune to try to get some back haha.

Just went out Rock crawling yesterday for the first time since regearing (in the snow!) and had an absolute blast.
