Nice! I want to go on that so bad but the truck needs gears and lockers which I can’t afford right now. And I’ll be upgrading to captain around then and will have zero control of my schedule. Maybe if I get lucky and have the time off I could fly out and maybe ride along w somebody.

I'm on stock gears and no locker. From what I've read, most of the trails are passable with a moderately built rig. I have no intention of trying any of the more extreme Jeep trails. My focus right now is on armor and minor suspension upgrades. IF I get a bonus this year similar to what I got last year, I might be able to re-gear and add a locker.

Im interested in the moab trip. Is that going to be Rock therapy again? I've been trying to get out there for the last 3 year's and something always comes up. I might know some other guys that might be interested from Naples area. They've done the drive a couple times. I've done the drive in my 4runner to Colorado and back but not in the Tacoma

I went to Moab in July, but wasn't prepared to do any wheeling. Our road trip had a slight detour, with Moab being on the way. Such a beautiful place. I will be going again.

I started a thread for my planned trip to Overland Expo East followed by the Georgia Traverse for November 7th - 15th or 16th.

I am brand new to the Tacoma loving world and am really trying to dive into all this and get as much knowledge as possible before purchasing my first truck and starting all these fantastic trips. Do you guys think it would be a good idea for a newbie like myself to go up to Overland Expo to just get a feel for things and learn a little about everything? Will I be that out of place if I show up in a Honda Civic instead of a suped up truck?

If you’re looking to get into overlanding, that would be a good start. If you’re looking into getting into real wheeling that involves a lot of technical stuff, ride along with someone at Hardrock in ocala and learn how so spot and get in-cab and out of cab perspective on obstacles. You won’t get that at Overland expo.
