    Hi all,

So I was wheeling this weekend and while flexing the rear axle I noticed that TWO of my leaf shackles (if that is the right word?) have sheared off, the same 1 of 4 on both sides!

    IMG-3140.jpg IMG-3139.jpg

I'm wondering if anyone has had this issue before? and if it is a cheap fix. Are the shackles a standard type part that I can take somewhere to get fixed? Or do I need to contact ARB (they are Dakar leaf springs).

Thanks for the help and input. Cheers

I'd get a hold of ARB or a vendor that sells their products. Bummer!

Yeah, I don't know of any in the area, so I thought I'd try here first. This is my first vehicle with leaf springs so I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to them

That's a rebound clip. Check for warranty replacement first IMO.

Are you jumping stuff or something?

Should be simple to replace with a c-clamp and jack if it comes to it.

    Thanks for the correct verbage

Yeah I'll look and see if it can be warrantied. Nope, no jumping. Some definite flexing this weekend, but nothing high speed.

That’s how they come from the factory. Yours are fine.

I thought this at first! But it just looked so jagged and broken I figured I must be wrong. Thanks for the help. Still looking at the pictures it just doesn't look right.

Good on you for inspecting stuff on your truck. I slacked off on that for a while and wound up with this. Could have ended badly.

Wow, yeah. I would hate to see that. On the topic... are you running Dakar's with your CBI 2.0 rear? I'm looking at getting that bumper but I want to make sure it's not too much weight for my current leaf configuration.

My rear bumper is not the swing-out version, so no weight penalty at all. Weighs about the same as the factory bumper and hitch I took off. Swing out would be a different story.

This is correct, that's the way they come from OME.

Purely speculation but I think those are just to keep all the leaves in the pack together. I have a set of deavers that don't have rebound clips or guides on the bottom 2 leaves and they flare out away from the rest of the pack running through the desert. I ended up drilling holes and installing guide clips for them so they don't do it anymore.

Snapped a guide off the bottom of an Icon aal once. Popped the rivet right out. Made a cool sound. They sent me a replacement aal, said they never heard of that before. I was quite proud.

That thing on the left is what I was referring to. That is a rebound clip. Appears you were referring to the brace that is basically the fail-safe for leafs sliding sideways. That is indeed intentional.

Is that how your leaf pack looks at normal ride height? Or was the leaf pack drooped when you took the picture?

When your leaf pack became 'unorganized' without the guide you'd made, did you experience any drivability issues?

I have the Icon RTX leaf's, they didn't seem to come with a rebound or guide. After 3 or 4 years of driving with them (I've only owned it for the last 6months or so...). The leaf pack visually isn't organized hardly at all.. and I'm experiencing the rear end of the truck bucking right when hitting bumps at speed above 45mph.

Wondering if I repack my leaf's and create a guide like you've described it could fix my issue!
