Looking to buy a new mower this spring. I'm going commercial zero turn for all of my properties. I've kinda narrowed it down between scag and ferris. These two are the choice due to the dealers close by. I'm looking between the ferris 2100z or 3200z, and the scag cheetah, or turf tiger 2. Anybody got any first hand knowledge?

I have a 1999 Scag 52' hydro walk behind. Since I got it 4 years ago, it has only been used at my 3/4 acre yard though it was used commercially for its first 15 years. I will say that it was run hard before I got it. I fully tore it down and redid it... found the original bearings etc held up very well. I also feel Ferris makes top notch stuff, so can't really go wrong either way.

I'm pretty sure the ferries 2100z is the winner. I haven't pulled the trigger yet but the dealer is 5 miles away and have always done me right. The scag is a better machine but the dealer is 30 miles away and didn't give me the warm and fuzzy feeling. They were not flexible on pricing and basically said if I don't buy it then someone else will. Well then I guess someone else can bring you a check for $11k and this guy will take his elsewhere. I'm not looking for a steal but I don't pay list price either

I see you're in northern Ohio. Try sohars and also JD Equipment in C-bus. My dad bought his scag at JD and they dealt well.

As for being close... you can easily do all maintenance on them yourself so I'd go for the best machine. Good luck!

My neighbor is in the commercial business. He got a Ferris that I thought he over paid until I took it for a spin. If you are spending several hours a day on it, that suspension would make the decision easy for me. I have a Gravely ZT that I have had for several years. It was a night and day difference on the Ferris. My back was much happier. Also having a dealer close to you is huge, especially if they actually stock parts.
