Gearing up (or should I say down) for a lengthy road trip starting next week. Removed the tent, axe, shovel, traction boards, bike rack, and ski rack from the truck, and now she looks naked. I've gotten roughly 4mpg better since I took all the gear off which makes me wish I had a place to keep the gear most of the time. With the cold temps and crazy weather across the country right now, I figured sleeping in the cab will be more pleasant, and safer. I'll be attempting to make a "sleeping platform" for the back seats while still retaining a little interior storage. Just picked up a couple of pelican cases today from a friend of a TW member in CO, so I'll be able to keep my kitchen and recovery gear in the bed of the truck. I'll try to remember to post up some pics before I leave 20171230_213954.jpg 20171230_213940.jpg

Removed the lower half of my rear seats and cut a piece of plywood to fit as a platform on top of the folded down seats. Should allow for a good amount of storage under the platform just behind the front seats, while significantly increasing the sleeping area. Now to decide what to do for a "mattress". Also, excuse my crappy cuts, couldn't find a jig saw so I had to use a sawzall.

Had a successful first night in the back seat. Turned off the truck somewhere in Iowa around 12:30 and it was -2 degrees outside. Slept in a 0 degree bag with a comforter and woke up around 7:30 a little chilly but not freezing. Turned the truck on to heat up and it was 2 degrees outside. I'm pretty happy with this set up!

I'm gonna keep my strategy of "the cheapest shipping is driving 15 minutes" and I'll be stopping by RCI to discuss their new bumper

Bumper is ordered and it's going to be the next one through the RCI production line! In the mean time I just received seat risers for my drivers seat that are adjustable from 1" to 2" and my shift sense pro will get here this weekend. Hopefully this is the true fix to the 3rd gen transmission issues.

Well today's the day, if anyone who sees this has chopped up a 3rd gen for a front bumper I'll take any advice you've got!
