I’m hoping the dedicated mining cards that are coming in June, if you believe the rumors, will begin to fix that. Availability will still be the shits though and I doubt nVidia will drop the prices until the demand goes down.

Lots of ssds you have there. I just updated my sons computer from a platter drive to a sata ssd.

Hes been doing more games downloaded from steam, so his basic acer computer i bought for him last year has kinda taken on a frankenstein innards. The mobo and i5 processor are still the same, 8gb ram is still there, but the psu has been replaced with an evga g3 650, onboard graphics not used in favor of a gtx1060, and the platter drive has been replaced with the ssd. When installing the ssd, i noticed there is an m.2 slot hiding on the mobo. Its full size for a ssd too, not like for wifi. Couldnt believe it.

I hate upgrading store bought PCs. They usually had odd case configurations, and hard to find info on what's supported.

Yeah, I hate when they flip the board to the right side of the case and upside down. Everything should fit that way but the fans on graphic cards are upside down so they get warm.

Can't stand a noisy pc. That's why I went all ssd.
    I started with this case
    http://www.thermaltake.com/products-model_gallery.aspx?id=C_00001969
And cut out the whole side to place a window. Also mounted the ssd's to the front. Completely removed all plastic covers, HDD bays and 5.25 bays. PSU shroud is made from the skeleton of a HDD bay from another case and the side is carbon fiber quick fix roll. Also used carbon fiber on the 5.25 Bay side to cover the fan controller wire. Front fan is supposed to be in the outside of the case but I put it inside. Top 200mm wouldn't fit or it would be inside too.
    Fans:
    front 200mm intake
Front inside the 5.25 Bay behind the ssd's 140mm corsair intake
Bottom (inside PSU shroud) 140mm corsair intake
    Top 200mm exhaust
The red you see in the background is a foam material I placed all on that panel to kill any noise. IMG_20180318_232028.jpg IMG_20180318_232016-01.jpg IMG_20180318_232204.jpg IMG_20180318_232110.jpg IMG_20180318_232101.jpg

Buy used. Thats what I've always done. Got my gtx 980 for $520 CAD right when they came out on Kijiji, new sealed box. (Canadian Craigslist without the prostitutes) There always someone wanting to upgrade for no good reason.

I checked this one before buying, and it is a fairly standard case design. It has a micro atx mobo, but I doubt I would go as far as to update that much. If I did, I would just build a new computer.

I don't trust used cards especially now with mining. Running the card 24/7 for months? No thanks..

Yes there is a risk of getting a mined card. Some people just want to upgrade. My rule of thumb is if they won't meet at their place I won't buy it. Chances are a seller would be less inclined to fuck you over at their place of residence. I can pick up a 1070 for like $450 CAD used. 980's are going for like $300-350. I've seen a few still under warranty.

Maybe it's different in Canada... but around here (I live in Maryland) people never meet at their house for anything. Always at a location with people around (food place, mall/strip stores, ect).

I just did a quick CL search for GTX 1070 in my area... Prices range from $580 (lowest) to $700 (highest).

I did find this fucker trying to sell his mining setup.... :frusty:

    8 GTX 1070's - https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/sys/d/brand-new-8x-geforce-gtx-1070/6528008382.html

Well... I currently have the EVGA GTX 970 FTW model card. I was looking to get the GTX 1080 but the only bad part is that I wanted to get one from MicroCenter after Christmas time since I have MicroCenter giftcards. But right after Christmas is when the prices of GPU's shot up... :(

That sucks. We sell high but still cheaper than everyone else. Wish I could give out my discount. My buddy just got a 1080 ti 11gb for $700 which is crazy that it was a deal. Got my 1060 6gb pnys for $200 each for mining.

My buddy may be selling his 8gb 1080 since he upgraded to the ti. Never mined on just lots of vr. Let me know
