Sweet so I didn’t need to email him serial # then. So I can enter this 6 digit code in pcm flash and activate and read and flash right now then?

No, your key will be a 256 character hex number that he will email you.

You still need to email the serial number of the dongle. Mat will email you back your key.

    Mostly stuff I built.

Only issue I have with towing is the low amount of engine braking. If you can give us some more compression braking that would be great. 6MT here truck by the way.

The VVT smoothing Mat's done is very apparent to me on the 87 tune.

I've only got a morning commute in, varying from the occasional 65mph stretch on the interstate and lots of stop lights but acceleration is very smooth and, dare I say, I actually may prefer the 87 tune for that kind of driving.

Time will tell when I get it out on the open roads this weekend and in the mountains but my initial impressions are that the 87 tune is actually a bit smoother and more refined feeling. Tip-in aggressiveness that took a few hundred miles to soften on the 91 tune (running 93 octane fuel) isn't present at all and in the rolling, stop, rolling, go kind of traffic the TC engagement is softer than it was on the 91 tune. That said the 91 tune is fun as hell to drive and there is no doubt you can tell the difference on the low/mid range but in retrospect the power can be a bit jumpy in spots so I had to be more aware of that. While the 87 tune may not change much to PEAK power vs. stock there is no doubt that what's there is more usable in the low/mid-range. More miles to log...

The tune is interesting but not yet complete and finalized. My truck drives fine but who wouldn't want better. Waiting for the final tune. Can't be bothered to do updates, fixes every other week. What do you think? Final tune out after maybe another year of experimenting?

The tune is basically finalized, OV is getting feedback from users to improve upon it, yes, but it's not an incomplete product.

It's like any other software, updates may happen that improve upon an already working product, these updates are a good thing, and if an update were to come out, it takes 5 mins to flash.

Absolutely your decision to make! Glad you're enjoying your truck as-is, if that's so maybe the tune isn't for you.

My opinion, and that's all it's worth: if anything was incomplete, it was the STOCK tune based on my experience. The weird engagement or disengagement of the torque converter, the highway transmission dance, sluggish throttle, transmission that went from barely moving to SLAMMING down to 3rd or 4th to pass or accelerate on the highway, the exhaust vibrations from a sub optimally tuned VVTi, and learning of the transmission that always learned how to shift to overdrive as quickly as possible (and thus have to accelerate to get it back in the power band incessantly) ALL have been solved 100%, without a question. The truck feels 1000lbs lighter tuned (even on 87) vs. stock...

No matter how "complete" the tune is, you'll continue to see "I wish it did" "it would be nice if..." feedback on here even a year later most likely. The feedback keeps coming b/c Mat is dedicated to continued refinements but there is absolutely no question that trucks drive night/day difference tuned vs. stock without compromising MPGs or engine wear unnecessarily...

That's just my opinion though, and I get folks seeing feedback and asks for future changes to be "issues" and wanting to hold out! It'll be here when/if you're ready!

Those ZR2's are sadly disappointing and WAAAY overpriced. My taco has 1" more clearance under the diffs with basically stock size tires and a 2" lift. That truck "looks" good due to the aggressive body, but $20 says it will die long before our tacos. Not to mention it only comes in an extended cab...wtf?

I also think our tacos would beat that thing in a drag (not that it matters...these r trucks) it is diesel isn't it?

My fiance said it didn't seem like I was flighting with the truck as much while out and about this weekend.

Yet another 3rd party assessment of how this tune smooths everything out and it just drives like it should have from the factory!

I am finishing up my last tank of 91 and intend to run 87 for normal use. The 91 is super fun, and I’m glad that I have the option of running 91 on play days or when desired. In my opinion, the 87 tune feels great.

Said another way, if there were no 91 option I’d still buy the tune and be extremely happy.

It literally take 30 minutes start to finish, including time to let it idle. Also, it's not every other week and, you do t have to flash every update.

Do we really just need to email the serial that is printed directly on the dongle now?
