Solution for OEM spare tire hoist and aftermarket wheels

    I'm sure some of you have ran across this issue before. I looked for solutions but didn't see anyone post anything about it. If you are running aftermarket wheels that have a larger hub bore than stock, the OEM spare tire hoist will no longer work. The ears on the end of the hoist are too small for the larger hub. My solution was to weld some extension tabs on the ears. In my case, I used some weld-on light tabs from my old Trail Gear bumper. They worked out perfect. Excuse the shitty stick welds.

    That's not a bad solution, however, be aware that our wheels are hub centric so running wheels with a larger bore isn't a great idea. You're potentially sacrificing strength and ride.

    This is with hub-centric wheels. The OEM hoist was missing when I bought this truck, so I had to source one. Maybe I got one from a 5 lugger or base model?
