I got in my truck this morning and cut the ac on low and it was not blowing. it would only blow on high. so I went to the Toyota dealer after I watched a video on what it would be. as I was pulling into the dealership it started working right. I guess I scared it to work right. has any one else had the problem with it only blowing on high? the video said it was the Blower Resistor.

I have no idea if the system has changed on newer cars, but most older cars use a resistor to control the blower speed. Each fan setting corresponds to a certain amount of resistance added to the blower.
Full fan speed = zero resistance
Lowest fan speed = highest resistance

So when the resistor system breaks one or another, the system defaults to the zero resistance setting, or full speed.

On a lot of newer systems, they use vacuum controlled HVAC settings. Those can fail for a variety of reasons, or just a little crusty and come back to life with a bit of toggling.

If you unplug the blower motor resistor, you may very well see a discoloration on the connector.
Auto zone sells a kit with new plug, resistor, and butt splices.
There are several threads about this very same issue.

Easy fix. Just replace the blower resistor, takes about 10 minutes, then count your blessings it wasn’t something more serious with the a/c system.

This is exactly what happened to my 2010. the contacts inside the connector showed burnt marks and were making a bad connection. The blower motor would intermittently work on all settings and then sometimes only high. I replaced the entire connector and resistor. No problems since. Good luck.

I apologize if I misread your middle paragraph, but when one of the resistors breaks, say, the resistor for the medium speed, that creates an open circuit, so the electricity can't flow through it, rendering medium inoperable, so it won't default to full speed, it will just stop working altogether.

its working good now. I know at night time the temp switch area goes dark and I had to tap on it to get the lights to work. I was thinking maybe a wire is not on good or something.

Fix it now, before it burns up more.

It hasn't self healed, it's just jarred temporarily back into place.

It's an easy fix to replace. Lots of good info on this site. Replace the resistor and check the connector as well since the poor connector may be the cause of the issue with the resistors.

As these trucks get older and have more miles on them it's important to fix each little problem as it occurs. One small problem is easier to diagnose and repair. Compounded issues complicate things and can cause even more problems.

It stopped working again I watched a video on how to change it so I’m going to stop by Toyota today and see if I can get it and the wires to fix it.

It 64.18 for both parts. I had some junk harbor freight connectors that I tried to use but it didn’t hold the wires. It only took about 1 hour to do it all328A4999-0717-4E82-80E4-070FC47C2E14.jpgC9A7379F-16F8-4CE8-AD9C-8E79E2586621.jpgA7633264-02A2-45B2-834E-58EA1892144D.jpg

Since out HVAC system is a GM Delphi special, we share some of its problems including the resistor but I would focus on burned contacts on the connector, a much mor common problem. This is something the Tacos and GM trucks share and there is an upgrade kit under the ACDelco banner. If you would like its part number post back and I will dig out one of the spare kits I have. It can be bought on Amazon, etc.

I have this issue with my truck. Any idea what causes this? Every once in a while the lights will go dark on the temp control and then if I tap or fiddle with the switch they usually come back on.

Pop the hvac control out and make sure the bulbs are locked in. I had one fall out. Found it sitting behind the control.
1/4 turn is all they need.
