I am just wondering if anyone with a plow (for any truck really) has ever fabricated a winch mount for the plow push plates. Looking for pros/cons.
Yes I have a winch. It is on a cradle that fits into a front end CBI receiver. Had to remove the receiver to put plow on.
    Thanks
    Cheers

I've seen a number of extremely light duty plows that utilize a winch and cable to raise and lower a plow. (Actually, gravity lowers it and the winch just controls the rate.) Some were home made and some were purchased that way. Speaking as somebody who's been involved in snow removal for many, many years, they scare the hell out of me. Have you ever seen a winch that somebody didn't keep an eye on during use and the cable got all tangled up? Try placing one of those out of sight on the front of your truck and see what happens. Sorry, but I just wouldn't recommend it at all.

Thanks- To clarify, I have a meyer plow specifically for the tacoma. I am looking to fabricate a platform for the winch that will fit into the push plates of the plow so I can use my winch.

Can you mod it for a long reach air or hydraulic cylinder? A neighbor did that with his to lift it with a compressor and it was a great setup.

Thanks for your reply. To clarify, I am not looking to use the winch in conjunction with the plow. Just looking to utilize the push plates for a winch platform to use the winch in the warm weather.

    Cheers

Can you use one of the plate bumpers/winch mount combo's with the plow? You wouldn't be swapping, winch is with you full time, and you won't damage the plow setup by possibly putting to much pressure on it in the direction it's not really meant for.

    Good luck with the search.
