TRD Pro Grille for $140?

Mine from Yan-Lim was 7 pieces, grill and 6 letters. The first T and the A were all silver (included background that is part of the black grill on other letters. Black Satin paint of those backgrounds matched the grill well. I think that black satin on all 6 letters would make a good all black look. Yan-Lim packaged well and no broken clips. I did use the JB Weld epoxy on all the letter studs along with the double sided tape as well as in the overlaps on the back of the first and last letters (same as painted ones). Hopefully I will steal the wife’s spot in the garage while she’s at work and get the install done tomorrow. Overall very well pleased for $132 shipped.

Well after old man winter left again I was able to get it done in the driveway.

I really want to pick one of these up but I would much prefer a 2-piece faux grill with the entire "Toyota" logo/letting that you screw in. But it seems like a toss up on which type (2-piece vs 7-piece with separate letters) you will get from most sellers on ebay/Amazon. Anyone know of any sellers that for sure sell the 2-piece grill?

I read through the last 50 pages of this thread and someone said that you had to cut these yourself? I am not sure exactly what that means but it sounds like a bit of a hassle. What was your experience with their grill?

 

I ordered mine from that vendor.
They only thing I had to cut was left over plastic, residue plastic from the plastic injection mold.

I used a nail clipper to remove it ....rolls eyes

 

Did you have the stick the letters on individually with 3m tape and/or epoxy?

 

Yes, I did have to epoxy the letters.

One thing I have to mention, the letters are black and not silver like most grills. I wanted the all dark look but, they can also be painted any color.

 

For sure, thanks for the info. I'm trying to find a 2-piece grill that doesn't require you to 3m/epoxy the letters.

 

This is the one I am looking for but can't seem to fine one on eBay that is definitive on being two piece. The piece with Toyota just screws on to the main grill right?

Message the seller before you buy and ask so that when you don’t get what you want it will be documented and you can file a claim and eBay reimburse you...sometimes without having to return the item!

Yan-linm has two separate listings. One clearly shows the Toyota lettering as a separate, screw-in piece. I contacted him and he confirmed that that listing was a 2-piece grill.

 

you're kidding right? you don't want it anymore? is that $125 incl shipping?

 

Got mine 5 business days and looks and feels much more sturdier than the OEM sold at the stealership smdh.

 

I agree and love it...it’s because the Chinese have a secret ingredient added to the polymer mix to strengthen it...I think they called it lead but I’m not sure.
