I ordered about 2 weeks ago, got the tracking number last week. Supposed to be delivered today

 

I wonder how this would pan out? You would have 6 injectors not being used. MPG would be even worse than what it is now i would guess

Atkinson cycle is a result of the VVT-I.

 

I would hope that this tune does not disable the injector valve cleaning cycle ! Anyone know ? @OVTune ?

I know that, but there is 12 injectors correct? 6ported and 6direct. 6 are used with atkinson cycle only while the other 6 are used when atkinson cycle is not being used and thats apart of the transition between the two modes from my understanding? Idk maybe im wrong.

Plus, as I understand it the "cleaning cycle" is meant to blow the carbon off the direct injectors themselves and has nothing to do with the valves. In techstream you can see the injector mode switch over to "direct" when the "diesel like" clatter starts up at hot idle. The engine will be running on port injectors at hot idle the rest of the time.

The port injectors do clean the backs of the valves just by being used though by washing the valves when injecting fuel over the valves . Engines with just direct injection are prone to carbon buildup . This is /was a main the reason Ford went to port and direct injection in 2018 also. Edit , maybe 2017 ?

The "cleaning cycle" as it pertains to the 2GR-FKS means the special DI cycle. Ol Mikey Sweers explained it in a video which I am too lazy to find the link for.

I'm agreeing with you on the port injectors cleaning the intake valves. It happens all the time when port injection is active.

Edit: And I can tell you 100% that the DI cleaning cycle is still there on my tuned M/T, as it has been with all tunes Mat has released.

 

First off, I'm in jersey. Louisville ain't got nothing on the snow storm we just had. The package is currently about 1 hour away from my house in North Jersey. All of the roads are clear, salted, and just wet. The temperature is 50 degrees. It was scheduled (during the storm) to be delivered today

It still had to go through UPS' Worldport in Louisville...

The delay started yesterday, you just didn't know about it.

 

What you explained makes a lot of sense . I guess my worry would be if a tune stopped the port injection and just used direct . I want my valves and direct injectors clean lol.
