Sorry to create a whole new thread over this. I didn't see any general ditch light threads to ask on.

I just installed my Caliraisedled side projecting ditch lights. The install videos I watched seemed to have the lights sitting up higher than mine. Do these look like they're sitting too low? They create quite a lot of glare on the hood as well since they sit so low. Did I get a bracket turned around somewhere?

those brackets appear to be backwards unless a change was made. Also, you will get hood glare regardless, but not as much once they are positioned correctly.

    More pictures please.

Looks to me like you forgot to install the piece that allows you to angle it up and down.

@CaliRaisedLed makes two different mounts. A regular mount and a low profile mount. You probably got the low profile

    Hello,

We only make one mount now and that’s our low profile ditch brackets.

The brackets are on correctly, they go up from the mounting points on the underside of the hood. They’re just low because of the low profile. I don’t feel like they are enough of a hinder to line of sight to warrant a low profile mount, but oh well. The low profile mounts are hard to tighten from the bottom from lack of space and it looks like they possibly increase good glare. Then again, I don’t really know because I have no experience with the regular brackets.

Edit: when I say hard to tighten from the bottom, I mean the single bolt on the adjustment bracket that can be seen in the picture.

I’m so glad to hear this. The reason I never got ditch lights is cause of how high your mount was. That’s about to change!

I did install this. Mine was bare metal, though, not black and I think I installed backwards if yours are installed correctly. I think they still work the same, though.

I don’t believe these are the low profile brackets, but it doesn’t seem as if the angle adjustment piece has changed. Shows to be applied the same way I do. Maybe change yours around and see what happens. But if you can still pop your hood, I’d say you’ll be ok. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/cali-raised-led-side-projecting-pods-install.506520/

This is how mine sits, I dry fitted them. Waiting to fully install though. And you’re correct, getting to the bottom not is a bit of a hassle, but they seem pretty secure once in place. Gunna get stainless hardware for mine.

Mine don't have the triangular section of the adjustment bracket. The light sits almost directly on top of the bolt. You can't get a finger in between the two.

    IMG_2772.jpg

The bolts going into the sides of the light were the hardest part of this whole install for me. One side was always easy to line up with the nut, but the other side was near impossible. I ended up having both lights with one nut cross threaded, but that's the only way it was going to work.

Yep, defitely two different types. I was wondering lastnight if it would possibly be easier to attach the lights before mounting the bracket. I’ve already got my brackets on though so I doubt I’ll go that route.

Use a space to move em up if you want higher. As for glare, there is a bit, but meh I need light at night so.

I wouldn't say it's an issue. I don't have anything bad to say about the product or the service they offer. I was just wondering why mine were sitting so low compared to others I have seen. Lo-pro bracket was my answer.
