When wheels are strait as seen in second picture it’s about 2-3 inches to guard, only get close when they are fully turned

Nice I’m in CT. Did you go over any bumps turning or compressed the suspension too?

Just got the tires on last week so haven’t done much with them yet. But this is a very common tire/wheel pairing on here and everyone I’ve seen who has done it on stock suspension has had no issues at all.

Are mudguards necessary when you do this upgrade? Never really wanted them but if they are necessary now to prevent chips and stuff, I might have to get. Just hate the look. 90/10 on/off road driving

    You don’t have mudguards stock?

Depends on the state. I purchased mine across the border and had to add them because they're a requirement in my state, but not the state I purchased.

Really? Wow never realized that. I live in RI but bought in MASS. Thought they all came stock. I would say they aren’t a necessity, but would deffinately prevent a lot of kick up so it’s worth saving your paint..

My brother picked up a new vehicle out of state hadn't gotten around to putting mudflaps on it yet. He drove it through a chip seal road construction site while towing his 2 week old wakeboard boat... $18k in damages to the boat. I always put them on..

Yeah seems TW is mixed on this one. I think stock wheels and tires you’re fine. Esp if not off roading. And no mine didn’t come with them. Many on here claim lots of mileage with no issues. Probably really dependent on tire selection and where you drive I’d imagine?

The stock hard plastic Toyota mudguards need to be removed for more serious off roading. Not because they contact the tires with this set up, but because they contact the ground when the suspension stuffs and flexes. If you stuff a rear or front wheel, the hard mudguard is on the ground and gets smashed or torn off.

I run mudguards around town and on logging roads to keep chip damage to a minimum, but remove them if running over the really rough stuff (takes 2 minutes at most). I broke a couple before I figured this out, but they are inexpensive to replace from Toyota. You can also run aftermarket guards that are more flexible, but risk getting them sucked into the tire tread, and torn off, in reverse.

Come to think of it, the only clean thing here is the back of the mud guards......maybe they are doing nothing for me? :mudding::confused::mudding:

I think for winter it helps. Summer around here not so much unless you’re just trying to keep mud and dirt off.

I know $3000 seems a lot but that's Canadian dollars with install

    325 each for rims oem's
    270 each for tires
    200 for install
And our awesome taxes of 13%

Wish I could buy on eBay but with duty taxes and exchange end up being the same

Anyone know in Ontario where I can get cheaper?

Get mud flaps instead of guards if you're so worried about it.

Soon, dragonfly, you will be ready to step up to a nice 3rd Gen. First you must admit defeat and let go of old ideas. It will be a cleansing experience.

Nice! Go do some full lock over bumps tests... any rub? Do you plan on getting mudguards? I’m in CT, near you so the roads suck now!
