Small update for the basement. I needed a way to hide my electrical panel, while still staying true to the design style my wife likes (rustic country). So I picked up some old doors from a salvage yard, painted/glazed/cleared mounted on drawer slides and hung them on the wall to be a headboard for the future bed that will be there.

Anyone have any tips on removing silicone from bluestone? Got a little excess on the steps and need to get it off without messing up the stone.

So when the HVAC contractor I selected showed up on work day, I thought of you because all 3 guys on his crew had Veto bags. Made me feel like I was in good hands. I meant to ask him if he bought them for all his employees. It seems that would be a good move from an owners standpoint, IYKWIM.

My family and I came home for the weekend so I took advantage of some downtime today.

Removed a section of tile and finished sorting out and cleaning up all the whole bricks from the wall I tore down.

The next time I come back into town I’m gutting the rest of the kitchen and taking down another wall section.

Loaded up my DR-XL with some gear today

There is an adjustable velcro divider system in a removable tray in the bottom . I set mine up to house 5 batteries and my USB charging adapter on one side , with my charger and Lee Valley drill index (shown) plus 2 other assorted bit storage cases that stack on the drill index (not yet loaded in this pic)

There are 2 side pockets inside the bag on the charger side , the perfect place to tuck away the charger cord looped up

The impact driver and drill nest on top

I use an empty long auger bit sleeve to carry 12" long bits and extensions , that goes in there on top

Bag zips up with all that in there no issues

Inside pockets also have some packs of short shaft speed bore bits and a set of Vix bits , more gear to follow

I have nothing in the exterior pockets yet

3 coats of semi-gloss ultra-white on the fireplace mantle. Never noticed the dirty bricks above the doors (hehe)...I'll have to clean those. Next, I'll be replacing the fireplace doors with black or that rubbed bronze/blackish color that matches the light fixtures and new curtain rod (yet to install as I've not intaled the new window trim yet...waiting on a decent day with temps over 40 as I need to set up my tools outside).

I think to clean the brick you need some kind of acid? Maybe muriatic? Not sure.
I'd try and paint those doors, they sell all kinds of rattle can paint now that I bet you can match up pretty well. Will save a shit load of money too.
I did my exterior door handle, lock and knocker about 6 years ago. It's holding up well and was once polished brass. I used a rusty red primer and then matte paint and rubbed off some areas. Not too bad IMO

Yes, after seeing prices for these doors - mine aren't even functional as I have a 2" thick piece of rigid foam that's painted flat black wedged into the opening. I'll remove the doors and clean them up & paint.

    Small useful for me stuff.
Ok so it’s not just the 50+ group that’ll spend your retirement. I have that bag and it worked great when I was doing mid and high rise work.

@OZ-T I really have a problem with those bags. The problem is I really like and want one or two of them but just don’t have a use for them at the moment. Thanks pal.

I would not recommend this paint if you are planning to use the fireplace. The temperatures from the fire risk melting the paint. It has a temp rating of 200 degree's F. If you plan to use the fireplace try and use a high heat paint.

    Rust-OleumSupport on 08/24/2015
Rust-Oleum Universal Spray Paint can withstand temperatures up to 200 degrees. Alternatively, if the surface will reach temperatures higher than 200 degrees, we suggest using Rust-Oleum High Heat Spray Paint.

Thanks for the heads up, but the fireplace is not used.

Could be used by someone else in the future that assumes proper paint was used... Worth spending an extra few bucks to do it right IMO.
