What do you eat in the backcountry?

I've heard https://www.packitgourmet.com/ is a good option for dried food.

 

Are you talking truck camping/off-road or are you talking hiking a couple days into the nether?

 

Either.

 

I just ask because hiking it's MRE type meals, and Offroading it's full on cooked meals!

 

If I have my truck I will cook all kinds of real food. No point in going compact and lightweight when I have a truck to carry the load. If I’m out hiking or on the four wheeler I will have simple sandwiches and freeze dried meals.

 

I went with the freeze dried and prepared foods (like the fruit salad) this trip because it's quick and several days I was setting up after sunset.

I also tried to pack light so there was room for me to sleep in the bed of the truck on the windy/rainy nights (packing up a wet tent sucks).

Ha. I don't think I'd ever had spam before. It was in our emergency food stash and set to expire later this year. Cubed it up and tossed it in with the pasta primavera with boiling water.
