Thread revive!!! I am just leaving this information here, as I couldn't really find it anywhere else when I started ! 2 things.

#1. The above video is not a hummer, it's a Russian farm vehicle modified for with body panels to look like a hummer.

#2. This is not the website to be asking off roading questions on. 80% of these guys have never crossed frame deep flowing water, much less a river they couldn't see the bottom of. You should use TTORA or Pirate 4x4 for those questions.

Ok so I have a 2014 tacoma with a snorkel, all carpet removed, the interior rhino lined, and all breathers ran into the airbox. All that is a must. If it has oil in it, it has to have a breather. Even the power steering reservoir breaths through the lid. That will have to be modified too. I used 3/8 rubber line for all the venting hoses. Dont forget the transmission vent by the shifter. You can order screw in metric hose barbs to attach them to the different components. As far as an electric fan goes...I think it's bull crap. The fan operates on a thermostatic clutch, and if you enter the water slowly, the water will splash on the clutch and disengage it. I have never had a problem. If you go wide open into the water, you fan will have so much momentum the blades will pull themselves forwards into the radiator. Seen plenty of morons do it. That is my buddies red taco further up in hood deep water. There are several sensors above the transmission tunnel of the pre 2005 tacoma, and if they get wet, your stuff is toast. It's the yaw and deceleration sensors for the airbags. Now, I have let my 2014 idle in badge deep water in a gravel bottomed crossing to see what would give up first. Water was up midway on the seats. I never got a warning light, check engine light, nothing. I have driven through water that came well up over the wipers from the bow wave, no problems. The computers are behind the glove box, there is no water protection on those. They get a splashed and your done for. The only thing I will warn is, muddy water with dirt particles in it will make your alternator and idler pulley eat themselves fast. There is no way around it. The alternators don't mind clean water, so you can hose them while it is running. I modified my idler pulley with a grease fitting in the center. After I play in water I give it three or four pumps. It's been ok so far.
If the water is fast moving, and deeper than the door, it is best not to try it. If you get stuck, it may build up upstream from the truck and flip you over. Also remember, SUVs and 4 door tacomas with the small beds are essentially unstable boats with heavy tops, at least till they fill up with water. And on the last note, I gave my money for my truck and I will go where I want in it. Wether its to panama canal, to barrows point, or through 5 foot deep water. If anybody tells you not to, or that you are dumb for trying it...thats just them being jealous cause they will never have the guts to try it themselves.

Came used with brush guard, winch and bed cover.
Speaking of "buy a boat," I wonder if you could get a bed cover that could double as a boat if you take it off and flip it over…

Anyone seen a deep water ford exhaust mod on a Tacoma? I am thinking about having one fabricated since I cannot find any online.
