The early cars/parts were sorta hit or miss at those power levels, but lately the full bolt-on DIT WRXs in the 400whp ballpark have quite reliable with a proper tuner. The shop that tuned my STI (BrenTuning) does a lot of them out. My STI (stage 2 with header and injectors) made 315whp/375wtq on a very safe tune, and has been completely bulletproof during the 8+ years I've owned the car. I beat on it, I've auto-x'd it, I've gone skiing with it, and it never skip a beat. It's all about keeping up with the proper maintenance, buying quality parts, and a tuner who knows what he's doing.

OP seems to have his mind made up regardless... I've seen just as many beat-on, beat-up FRS's that have been parking lot drifted and abused, and given the much lower entry price (new), that's to be expected.

Not made up by any means, just trying to explain my thought process. My buddy has got a 2016 WRX and babies the hell out of it. I could probably convince him to sell it to me. I'm just a little apprehensive about the damn CVT. If I go with the manual it ends up being less of a daily driver and more of a project... But WRX's are sweet as hell.

your lucky. there's maybe one guy in all of alberta that can tune mitsu/subies properly and he still managed to fuck up my buddies 07 sti. ran lean knocked like a bitch and threw a rod. the ej is a tricky mistress and bad tunes are the demise of many of those engines.

2800lbs is not almost nothing. Beating a mopar thats not a hellcat isn't saying much and neither is beating a stock Coyote Mustang either. Because if the Coyote has any mods or a tune then a BRZ with 280 wheel isn't touching it

My BRZ setup for autocross a few years ago. Bought it in 2012 and we still have it. It isn't fast but it feels really fast now after driving the Tacoma.
