Where is the front differential breather on the 2016's? Want to install ARB diff breather kit.

I want to install an ARB differential breather kit on my 2016 TRD Off Road. I've got the front skid plates off, hands up inside there, feeling around the differential,...I am not finding anything resembling a factory breather on this. Even if there was something there, I think I would have to drop the entire diff to get to it. I can hardly get my fingers in there, let alone a wrench to remove a fitting. Thoughts? Anyone do this project yet?

I think I found it. If it is what I think it is, it sits real tight up against the differential on the drivers side...nothing that feels like a "fitting" that would allow a wrench on it. It feels like a "L-shaped" piece with a small hose mounted to it,...it then travels up along the driver's side wheel well,...then I loose it,...too much in the way to see where it ends up. So, if I have found it,...there's no way I am going to attempt this without some further instruction. Good news is, Toyota actually had the sense to have the breather mounted up into the engine bay. I will have to get some more thoughts on this, but given the location of the front differential with the engine and exhaust nearby, would there be a situation where the differential would have an acute drop in temperature that would cause a vacuum and suck water in through the oil seals? I am trying to legitimize NOT doing the front and just doing the rear.

BTW, the rear diff. breather easy to do.IMG_0488.jpg IMG_0492.jpg

I can't find any specifics about where it goes, but the front diff, along with transmission and t-case all have a breather tube, they may all terminate in the same place in the engine.

Thanks for posting the diagram. Yes, this is what I was feeling with my fingers. I think someone will have to come up with a kit to do the Tacoma. There may be a way to get to the hose, cut it, put in a male-male hose adapter and then put on an extension hose and breather. From the looks of it right now, I don't see any way to get anywhere near that factory diff. breather without dropping the whole front driveline...grrrrr. I haven't even looked for the transmission and T-case. The rear diff. did not even have a hose,...the breather was mounted to a fitting on the top of the driver's side axle housing, close to the diff.,...easy to get to, easy job,...but definitely a must if you are planning on going through any more than, say, 12-14 inches of water.

Any diagram about where the hose terminates or is just short?

Question, I want to do just what you did for the rear with the ARB kit, but I don't see the kit including anything to connect it to the diff. Did you have to purchase any separate fittings to hook it all up?

Why are you concerned about the front? Unless Toyota changed it for the 3rd Gen, the front is a true breather, up high already. It is the rear diff that needs a breather installed, up high, if Toyota still failed on that end!

what fitting did you use that goes into the rear diff to use the hose supplied in the arb breather kit?
