Surprised you thought that. Power is great on both 103b and c

87 or 91 map? 87 maps don't have power increases over stock. More of an emphasis on drivability. In addition 1.03C exists because 1.03B has more of a hairtrigger initial throttle response. No power differences between the two when comparing 87 to 87 and 91 to 91

It's the 91 tune. And it's not that I don't feel the improvement, it's that I guess I was hoping for more. Any shift that lands the rpm's under 2k still feel like I'm yanking a trailer. And the bump feeling when letting off the gas was no fun. Truly, I was hoping for more in the 1k-2k rpm range. I was also hoping for that sensitive throttle feel, which 103C didn't provide. I am going to drive with 103C for a day or two and do more testing before I try 103B though.

That is super low in the powerband. That's auto trans territory. Outside of 1st and 2nd gear, and a tad bit of 3rd but personally not even then as far as how I drive it, I wouldn't be aiming to be so low in the rev range.

The motor just likes to be higher up in the powerband. Even with a stellar tune on deck, that much is still apparent. Not to mention, no motor with a manual trans responds well to being too low on the tach. I'm not insulting your driving ability either, just for the record. Just making a statement

I mean, it sounds like 1.03B may just be more of what you're looking for as far as throttle response. As for 1.03C, perhaps the upcoming update will help you out but I'm not sure, based on what you've said you're looking for from the tune. 1.03B does seem more of the right direction for you

Your right, lower rpm sustainable power feels as if it comes easier and more naturally with an automatic because you don't have the clutch in play or a stall point to worry about. But when daily driving, the goal is to shift at low as a comfortable rpm as possible. If I shift say at 3k-4k rpm where I know I feel power, I'll land in the 2k+ rpm area, but if I shift at like 2k-2500 rpm area, then I get the attached trailer feeling in the new higher gear. I guess I was hoping more of a feeling like my 2nd Gen Taco with the 4L MT.

I think your right, I like more a snappier throttle. And I'm hoping 103B gives that to me. But I'm also hoping for a revised tune that doesn't have the shifting clunk attached to it. Only time will tell. Thanks for the responses, glad their a community working through this together.

Did some highway testing with 103C, now I do feel a power improvement in 5th and 6th gear at highway speeds. Nothing drastic but improvement nonetheless. But the clunk when getting on/off the gas is still there, very annoying. The power improvement did seem to help with fuel economy as well, as I can leave it in 6th and cruise easier now.

The test tunes have significantly minimized the issue between shifting, at least test tune 1 has for me. The new tune release should also address this when it drops.

Yeah same here, and while I don’t think it’s entirely possible to get rid of all the quirks, the main annoyances are either gone or greatly reduced. Add in individual preferences and Mat’s task is daunting to say the least.

That clunk is the aggressive throttle tip in that is even worse on b. mat supposedly in the test tune has leveled that out. i think that throttle tip in issue is my biggest gripe next to the studdering at 2500rpms.

FWIW Mat was able to sort out the tip in, stuttering, and the double bump on lift surge on the last file I got.
