Looking to add a leaf on my third GEN. I’m wondering if a single leaf.. or pack, is appropriate. Will this just affect my ride height or, how much weight the truck is capable of handling as well?

I am looking to lift and eventually put 285’s on. My daily use is around town, Highway, and low-speed offering.

Thank you! But I guess that leads me to another question. Why would they sell A lift that does 3 inches in the front, but only 1.5 in the rear?

Measure your front height and compare to rear (hub to fender). You'll see that your truck (and most all others) have some rake. Usually 1.5" to 2" higher out back. That's why companies make leveling kits - to level out the front to match the back. Those lift only the front.
Everyone has different tastes, but I like mines leveled. Some like the factory rake. And even some weirdos like the fronts higher. hehe To each his own

When measureing what are you calling the hub? I've been told to go this and I thought it was from the center of the wheel. Then it's too the fender flare right? I know dumb question but I'm learning here.

Yes. The center of the wheel aka hub to the bottom of the fender. for a 3rd gen, its about 21.5''-ish in the rear (stock).
