Holy cow man. I was wondering how in the world are you looking at the evaporator from that angle until I saw your dash taken completely out. I used a mirror with a light to look inside the HVAC and you are right...it's pretty nasty.
Great write up, and appreciate the pics.

This is what I used to clean mine the best I could from snaking the attached wand when I had the fan removed.

I'll be ordering this one! Hoping it fixes my rattle. I think there is some play in the shaft on mine.

I wish I found this thread before I ordered the TYC brand that the OP mentioned. Mine is super loud as well...in fact...it was louder than my faulty OE Denso one that is going out. It gave off a clicking and chirping sound while brand new.

Rockauto is a huge pain in the ass with returns so I guess I'm out $40.

So yeah...stay away from the TYC branded one.

FWIW, I bought the UAC blower assembly off of rock auto and it's super noisy as well. Also, the UAC A/C Compressor I got had the wrong pigtail on it for my truck (99 2.7L 4X) in case someone is looking at purchasing the kit off of rock auto.

A friends 2001 Tacoma Blower Motor started to make noise.

I pulled it out gave it a good cleaning and lubed it with Kroil with Silicone ordered a new one from Toyota .

A week later called them up to swap blower motors Was told it was working fine no more noise this might have been 8 or 10 years ago did a few other things over the years the blower motor still going strong .

I'm having a similar problem. Bought my truck recently and when blower motor started making a noise on Sunday shut it down and pulled it thinking it was a basket issue. Basket was dirty but nothing in it. Took the blower apart and brushes still look like plenty of life. Cleaned everything with electrical spray but when I ran it after assembly started smoking on higher speeds. Is it possible I stripped all the lubrication. If so where do you lubricate? Is it the caps or the ends? Thanks for any help
