P8070102.jpg Having issues with my truck. Bought a set of what was supposed to be mid travel king coilovers. Part number was 25001-119. They came a 1/4" adjusted from the top of the coilover and only lifted 1" total (21" from center of hub to fender, 20" stock)

I called my parts guy and he assured me that they were midtravel version and should have lifted 2" to 2.5"

When I look at some sites I see the 25001-119-EXT which I have been told is the appropriate midtravel coilover. But i am also looking for a 3" lift up front. Been thinking that 650 or 700 would be appropriate. I will have a Pelfreybuilt aluminum front bumper and 10k smitty h2o winch with synthetic line. I will also have about 150lbs going into the engine bay over the stock weight.

    Thoughts and advice.

The difference between the 25001-119 and 25001-119-EXT is the former has a spacer inside that limits its travel and doesn't require aftermarket upper control arms.
The the 25001-119 can be converted to a 25001-119-EXT by taking it apart and removing the spacer.

You will need to add more preload (ie adjust the upper collar down) to add more lift.

It’s junk, I’ll take one for the team and take them off your hands. Jk, in all seriousness, @oni06 pretty much explains it. 650x14in coil should serve you well with what you say you have planned.

Yeah I would go with 650lb springs. I'm running the kings with 700 lbs, @Pelfreybilt Aluminum bumper, no winch yet and its a bit stiff.
I'm debating selling the bumper and getting the same one but in steel since my 700lb springs are really meant for more weight then what I currently have.

I will say though it wasn't an OMG this SUCKS night and day difference in stiffness since my the Baja package shocks that were on the truck from the factory already had 650lb springs.

If your going from a stock spring and shock to Kings with 700lb coils w/o adding massive weight in the front it might be shockingly stiff.

Well I have the aluminum front bumper now. At the moment I have the 6112/5160 setup so the kings were super soft lol
I will have a 1urfe transplanted in the next couple months which adds another 100-150lbs ontop of the bumper/winch package.
    Also duel batteries
I guess I can see what it will cost to have the struts converted while the coils are swapped for me.

700lb coils may be better in that case.

    Hold up.

I have the extended travels and TC UCA's. Are you saying I can pull the spacer at the bottom?

I have 700 coils and my shocks are a bit on the stiff side even with a Pelfreybilt steel bumper up front.

I have this exact coil over.
    F63479146.jpg

    And I can remove this?

I am pretty sure they mean that if you have the 25001-119 that you can pull the internal spacer and make them the same as the 25001-119-ext. And I did confirm that you can add the adjustable rebound after the fact.
I wonder if anyone watching here knows if these coilovers would fit in a 2014 4runner. Lol
I could probably save money by selling at cost to my friend with the 4runner and getting the new coilovers with the 700lb springs.

If you already have the EXT model shocks then no you can't pull the spacer.
The spacer is only in the non-EXT model.

Its hard to recommend coil weight as each person is different in what they like.

The spacer is internal to the shock.

    OK, that's what I thought.

All said, I think I'm going to order custom length shocks for the front. The adjustment ring is set 3/4" - 1" from the hat and the shocks have limited down travel. With the Dakars and 12" shocks in the rear, if I drop the front any more, I'll have a ridiculous amount of rake. King recommends revalving the shocks.

Fuck it. I'm just going to shove an axle under the front and be done with it.

Here is a pic of my setup.
    These are the 25001-119-EXT
The shaft below the lower spring seat is same as the 25001-119

    Weight added? Spring weight?
I am trying to get an idea of how much preload on a 650# coil vs a 700# coil for the full 3" with weight.

Also depends on coil length. I’ve got 13” 650 coils. Most prefer a 14” coil as less preload is needed for the longer coil.

I have 14” coils. I also have an aluminum Pelfrey bumper with a warn winch. I have 700# to throw on but for now it seems fine. Gonna try the 700 this summer and see which is better.

Update: 700# 3" lift coils and ext mod to the struts worked great. IMAG0645.jpg

Resurrecting an old thread here.. Do you know if the same holds true for the rears? Aka can the 25001-121A be taken apart and turned into 25001-121A-EXT by removing an internal spacer? Can you point to any documentation from King about this?

    I do not know.
I have 12" kings with shock relocation towers so I never looked at the OEM replacement shocks for the rear.
