This is the crap that worries me about the ST Maxx tires...I don't want a mud tire but may look at those options because of this.

I had mine road forced balanced 2 times and never had any problems...9k miles on them so far. He could have just gotten a tire way out of round from factory or the person doing it doesn't know how to balance a tire.

And to note any Mud terrain can be tough to balance especially if they have a lot of miles on them.

I am new to the site and don't know how to link something. I can give a little update though. I ended up cancelling that order because it was back ordered for 4-6 weeks. I have my lift arriving this week, and I am too impatient to wait a month and a half to install it. I went through Summit Racing out of Ohio, it was $20 more a tire, but they were in stock and arrive today. For me the $80 was worth not waiting 6 weeks.

    summitracing.com

The Dick Cepek $100 off promo is company wide. It doesn't matter who you order though. It is a mail in rebate, but you can upload an invoice to their rewards site and it is pretty easy. It is supposed to take up to 10 days, so I will report back and let everyone know how their rebate process goes. Total from Summit Racing is 783.88 for tire, then there is the $100 rebate. I am sure there are better deals out there, 4 wheel parts was $20 cheaper per tire if you have 6 weeks to wait.

I think it's cuz of the tread design. So it looks even skinnier.

km2s have a pretty narrow tread.. half the reason I went with them.. between the skinnys, and the slightly wider stance, I'm very happy.. With the 6MT I also find my gears much more useable, I was concerned about loss of power, but its all around improvement..

gotta fix that torn cv boot tho:anonymous:

Toyos run taller but the same width as an st maxx. The design of the tread and sidewall can make you see things differently. Wheel specs will make a huge diff.

Might as well add an updated pic. IMG_3214.jpg

Yea the TRD Fj wheels was made for the 255s. Never experienced rubbing ever at any point of my build.

It's hard to move away from this wheel

i was just about convinced on skinny. i've been running a 265/75/16 BFG All Terrain. I was looking to go to 285 as i have plenty of room with my lift (3" front and rear) but don't want to go to a mud terrain due to road noise. Truck is primarily an on road truck with left/tires for looks and occasional trail/creek crossings when at farm through the various hunting seasons. what would the comparable tire to a BFG All Terrain be that comes in the 285 height?
