Amp install help

Hey guys, installing an amp to my sound system this weekend, just looking for any tips, existing threads, or any pictures on how you guys wired everything. Going to mount it under the front drivers seat since it's a low powered system only powering 4 speakers it will be fine. Thanks!

Where are you guys running the speaker wires, and also what hole are you using to tun the power wire through the firewall

 

Havent added a 4 channel amp yet but if you look into the engine bay on the left side of the firewall theres a rubber plug that has a wire harness running through it into the cab. Theres more then enough room to run a positive amp wire to the battery. Just cut a small slit in it and your good to go.

Edit: its also a good idea too seal up the hole with a touch of silicone after your finished with the install and let it sit over night untouched.

Yes heres a pic i have a couple cables running into it. I need to clean up my wiring by i get too ancy where new truck parts arrive lol.

Got one side done tonight. Lots of taking shit apart that's forsure

 

Got everything hooked up, but the amp won't show the power is on, and only the tweeters are playing sound. We ran all new speaker wire to the speakers but still nothing. Using 4 gauge wire from the battery through a 40 amp fuse, to a distributor (4 gauge in, 8 gauge out) to our amp, has proper ground. Any ideas?

 

Hows the remote turn on hooked up, through stock headunit in your harness or?

 

Damn, that's exactly what my dad thinks it is as well. I don' think we hooked it up or ran a wire for it. I didn' seem to find a remote turn on wire from the Headunit. It's an aftermarket Kenwood double din

 

Blue wire .it's always the blue wire. Check the wire diagram or maybe the lable on the wire's behind the unit .

 

Just checked some kenwKen wiring diagrams and depending on the head unit it could also be a yellow/blue wire.

 

Since it's all apart you should do some sound deadner. It makes a hell of a difference.

 

When I did my amp install I ran the blue wire from amp and soldered it in to the 12V acc which on the third gen is red if I recall, check which one it is and use that one. On my amp the remote on is connected to bass knob.

 

Sweet, I suppose you just tap into it and run it straight to the amp? Should be easy!

 

Yeah, on my harness on the input from HU side that runs towards the amp has all the power wires tied together, I just tapped into the 12V accessory; make sure it's that one and not the constant power or else it will always be on draining battery
