One company owns/makes damn near all glasses (prescription or not) in the world... Doesn't matter what label you put on it, it comes from the same place.

That's crazy! I wonder if I can use that to get a better deal next month?!

Funny, I am showing my age. My first pair of glasses came from Pearl Vision. LOL. Oddly, I was prescribed glasses in last part of elementary school and by the time I was out of high school I was not wearing them. Didn't wear them again until I was in my early 40's when I got a piece of metal shaving in my eye drilling on the bottom of a trailer rewiring the harness. Went to the doc, said yup, got a piece of metal in there, I can see the rust ring. On the subsequent visits he asked how my vision was, said I needed "readers", +1. Went down hill from there. Been contemplating Lasik. I hate needing glasses. Makes doing things on the truck, under a sink, out in the yard so hard.

I got Lasik. Literally took 5 minutes, then :spending:

But waking up and being able to see is amazing!

I should look into it! I really hate having to wear glasses. Plus then I could have more pairs of cool sunglasses.

We have this thing with our insurance, called Blue 365. Through Blue Cross & Blue Shield. Discount services. Right now there is a $1,100 off deal. I sent the form in to ask for more information. Find out what my total outta pocket will be. See how it compares to the $600+ I spend every two years on new frames. New lenses are free every year. It's the frames that get ya.

Now the big question is Lift for the Taco or Lasik. :anonymous:

I had a girlfriend when I had glasses.. but now in a dry spell. Maybe I should poke the lenses out of my glasses, and go back to them? who would notice.. :anonymous::spy:

Finally! someone else that shares this info also! My last pair of glasses only cost me $49, and I like them better than the $400 + glasses ( ZENNI.com--eyebutdirect.com) No more Luxottica for me, I'm sold!

Damn! Wouldn’t spend that kind of money on glasses. My last pair I just got only cost me a little over $40. That included the eye exam as well. Got transitions, anti glare. Frames are flexible (good when you have a toddler). Still getting used to the transitions. Wife hates it. I’m 33, everyone’s I know with transitions is older or geeky around here lol. But I hated having to have a little blurry vision when I wear sunglasses.

My glasses are like my watches I collect. To me they are a fashion statement. I prefer them to be edgy and unique. At the same time, I'd gladly save money if I could get something that could withstand the abuse I put things through. I'm like a bull in a China shop too, and super clumsy. Sometimes I'll wear my glasses in the pool, or in the ocean at the beach. Why? Because I can. When I'm driving and switch up I'll leave whatever pair I don't want at at time in the vehicle clipped on the sun visor. They need to be able to withstand extreme heat. Not all lenses can do that. I've seen the effect of heat on lesser quality lenses. As a matter of fact, a friend of mine at work just got glasses at a discount shop. She's getting another pair for free because of some weird reaction that typically only happens after longer periods of extreme heat exposure. She just got them. If you zoom up on the left lens you'll see what I mean.

    20180402_101615.jpg

I was amazed I could capture it in a photograph. The light has to be just right and the overhead lights at work and oncoming traffic lights at night were wreaking havoc on her. I personally have never seen this but its explained that the coatings are expanding faster than the base materials and thereby cracking. Since the lens is shaped to create the specific prescription the cracks follow those bends.

    Crazy.

I am vane though so there's that too. LOL I know I definitely recommend polarized glasses if you don't splurge on any other aspect. That feature is worth anything. Especially for driving.

That’s what makes our country so great, everybody can choose what they wish. But If you do your homework, you will learn like I did that it’s the same machines, the same materials, and the same coatings on both Luxottica and non-luxottica frames/ lenses. My Wife had the same problem you did on your glasses in the photo with her expensive lenses. Obviously, we could all argue the left and right of glasses until we’re blue, but yes it took a huge leap of faith and blindness for me to jump off of the Luxottica bus but I’m damn glad I did. And if you tear up glasses like it sounds like you do then more so I would want to leave under there blanket and save yourself a shit ton of cash. thank you Adam Conover.
