Bilstein 5100 and Tires question

I hate to post this question as I am sure the answer is buried here somewhere but I've been combing the forum for a month looking for an answer.

I have a 2013 Double Cab. I just ordered the Bilstein 5100 adjustables (24-239370) for the front and Bilstein 5100 (

$91 24-186728 5100 Series Shock Absorber

24-186728) for the rear. I'm unsure if I want to set the fronts at .85" or 1.5" because I absolutely want to avoid the "bro-lean." I'd appreciate any opinions on this.

Also, I'm due for a new set of tires. My Texas Edition came with the 17" rim and I'm heavily leaning towards the BFG KO2. My question lies with what size I can fit with absolutely no trimming or any wheel spacers. The OEM size is 265/65 R17. I'm considering a 265/70 R17 but would like to go bigger if I can and without rubbing.

What size tire can I fit with the Bilsteins at .85" and/or 1.5"?

I'll let the guys running Bilstein's speak more directly about the settings you want to do on the front shocks but I do know if you're sticking with the OEM UCA's you don't want to go past a certain setting as the alignment will be difficult to get into spec after your shock install. As far as the "bro-lean" ..... are you wanting to level out the truck front and back? From the factory, our trucks rear is a bit higher.

As for tires, I'm on BFG K02's. I am running 275/70/18's and had to do some trimming up front to prevent rubbing when turning the wheel to full lock. My suspension is OME shocks with 885 springs up front. OME shocks in the back with a Dakar leaf pack. It gave roughly a 3" lift. I used to run a 265/70/17 and had no rubbing.

I plan to stick with the OEM UCA's. I've heard that issues don't really begin until you set the fronts to 2.5". That's why 1.5" would be the max I want to go at this point which would also leave me with a little rake in the stance while keeping me from entering the "bro-lean" while accelerating.

A 3" lift let you run 265/70 R17 with no rubbing? I wonder how close that will put me at 1.5".

I have seen this and that's what has lead me to my question of what I can run with a 1.5" lift to the front. You'd think I'd be able to go at least a little taller and perhaps a just a bit wider.

 

0.85 in the front,and you are done with no problems.

Same sized tire of 265/70r17. Any wider, and they'll rub on the UCAs. You could go 255/75r17 which is a half inch taller, but I can't guarantee that you won't rub a little plastic. That'd be it though if you did rub.

As strange as it may sound, amount of lift doesn't play a role in the size of tire you can run. As that tire gets shoved up in the wheel well, lift doesn't mean a thing. That's how you properly clearance for tires, is by removing the coilover and using a floor jack to simulate full compression, and turn the steering wheel lock to lock. Then cut stuff out of the way.

 

I appreciate your response. Gave me the answer I needed. I had been looking at a 255/75 R17 and other sizes right around the 265/70 R17.

What make/model of tire are you running in the picture? I like 'em.

 

I have 265/70/17s with KO2s with no lift and barely rubs on full turn. I have -12 off set on rims though.

 

I’m glad I was able to get you the answer you needed! Those are cooper MTP in 295/70r17

 

I had 265/70/17 at stock height had no issues with rubbing. Now I'm 255/75/17 but lifted 2in still none with 1.5 you should be fine. Also I am rocking stock wheels.

 

Here is a picture of my old wheels and tires before and after my lift was installed. 265/70/17. No rubbing. No Rubber prior to lift either.
