Does mine look like it has excess oil? I thought it looked decent but I'm no expert.

Are you talking about the coupler with the spring or a solid coupler?
I bought the solid lime green coupler from ZZP and it looks the same both sides.

I also discovered the snout bearings are a different size to those supplied by ZZP. Fortunately they are standard size and easy to get.

I believe he is talking about the spring style.
I didn't mention but i also used the zzp polyurethane green style and it does spec the same on both sides.

I did mine recently, replaced it with a Gates belt...my original one only had <50k miles on it but it was at least 10 years old, and showing signs of wear.

If you see any cracks in the belt, it's time to replace

First nose drive oil change today. Around 110k miles (dunno cuz been running larger tires for too long)

Think the oil looked damn good for how long it's been in there. Pulled just under 4oz out and took about 4.5oz before spilling over.

I’m getting ready to everything in the OP this weekend. Question on the coupler; I got the poly green one, am I reusing the OEM spring? Is there anything particular I need to know about installing it?

Also, anyone have any tips about removing the standard pulley and installing the 2.85? Gonna knock that out too.

So the ZZ Performance links are down. But if I google zz performance I get a company website for what I think is the same company. Just go to the 3800 supercharger products and I should be ordering the right stuff? Correct?

No. 1GR refers to Toyota's 1GR-FE 4.0L V6 engine, found in a number of Toyota vehicles including the 2nd Gen Tacoma. It replaced the previous 5VZ-FE 3.4L V6, also found in a number of Toyota vehicles including 1st Gen Tacomas.

To confuse things a little further, both 1st (gray) and 2nd Gen (black) superchargers were available for the 5VZ-FE 3.4L V6.

Thank you for this write up, I found it extremely valuable to do maintenence on my supercharger. I have a 05 Tacoma that is in need of a major makeover. What plugs are people using in their S/C Tacoma's? My previous owner never replaced the plugs even thou the truck had 165K.

Yep agree. I great write up. I have a second hand TRD engine that I have fitted to a Hilux. As I don’t know anything about the engines past I think I want to open up and inspect the charger. Best to be safe than sorry.
    Thanks again

Just another question, is it actually worth my while opening up the charger just for an inspection or should I just check and change the oil? It’s it’s not making any noise, should I just leave the rest?
