Well my accountant just killed the purchase of my new truck. The tax code for 179 requires a 6' bed to qualify. CrewMax isn't eligible for the business. I swore off gubmint motors, and I can't do ford. Don't try to change it those are written in stone. The access cab back seat won't cut it for my needs. I'm more than bummed on this.

The Tundra Double Cab has a large rear seating area. Plus you can get a double cab with an 8 foot bed.

I think my double can is plenty big. Unless you are putting people back there for cross country trips, I see no need for the extra back seat area.

The 6.5' bed is a must I agree.

I think there is a bunch of tundra soft topper pics in my media file.

I'd post some up, but kind of busy right now.

Been away for a while... You can still write off a crew max, but it has to be over 5 years. A 6' bed lets you write off more $$$ in year one. An access cab won't work with kids. My dad has a 2011 crew max and is creeping up in years. He's not driving as much and really isn't comfortable. He goes up town for breakfast lol. I told him when its time I'll buy it from him. Super Taco keeps on rolling!!!

That dog won't hunt. I've had kid seats in my double cab often.

Me thinks you are just wanting the CM yourself. No crime in what you want.

I would love to have a CM, too,but the 6.5' bed is more needed then extra back seat space.

Sorry Toyota doesn't make what you want. I hope you find what works for you.

    I've enjoyed the thread.

It's a love/hate owning a business. The CM is a better fit, but the write-offs and company are what enable me to drive the truck. Toyota has been a great vehicle and I have zero complaints, but as I said an access tundra ain't gonna work. Ram is kinda winning the vote at the moment. It's not like I'm selling the tacoma and leaving, I'm just kinda bummed that the tundra doesn't meet the criteria for the IRS. Next is to find a deal on one. I hate going to the stealerships and wading in the slime and bullshit.

I'm sorry to hear that you have to move to another brand. Have you test driven a double cab Tundra? It has more room than a double can Tacoma in the back seat, and way more room than an access cab taco. I'm 6'2" and I can sit comfortably in the back seat of my Tundra.

It isn't completely over... I have to sit down with the accountant after the deadline. If I can meet the requirements for section 179, Then I can write of 100% in year one of depreciation. If I went crew max then I have to spread the depreciation over 5 years. It's not a big deal, but I have weigh it out. I don't mind the RAM, but it doesn't ride or drive like the tundra. My wife has a sequoia, and it has been an awesome truck. Sadly nothing lasts forever and she now commutes 100 mile round trip every day. I want to put her in a Subaru Outback and then add a truck to the company. It will all work out in the end I suppose.

If you can't go with a Tundra, why in Gods green Earth would you consider a Ram? I'd get a Ford Ecoboost before a Ram, unless you step up to the 2500 series (Power Wagon).

You need a new tax man. I think code 179 says interior cargo length of 6 feet, and Im sure there is a way to loophole that. Not that im condoning buying a truck that hasnt been redesigned in 11 years or anything though.
