Most 2" block are tapered to correct drive line angle. I don't believe block's cause axle wrap. Block is same size as axle spring pad, so how could that cause more axle wrap then what's already there, if the is any at all. I know some will disagree with me on this, but I haven't experienced it (axle wrap), with blocks.

Bigger blocks may weaken leafs prematurely, weak springs then cause axle wrap, adding one or more or stronger replacement leafs should strengthen current setup.

With sumo springs, like I said earlier, may negate affect of block on leafs if axle pivots under loads.

I'm not familiar with sumo spring installations so my opinion / concerns likely moot.

I had 2inch blocks for about a month and ride was stiff. I’m getting the wheelers AAL progressive pack on Monday so I can kind of do a comparison. Blocks will fix the stance issue but for me, it was too rough when going over rough roads or even speed bumps were a pain

so heres another question. the more i read the more i learn but the more questions i have..lol.

Been seeing this conversation about Axle wrap.

would a set of 1 or 2" blocks Cause axle wrap and an AAL doesnt"?

been watching videos on axle wrap , what it looks like and causes but im seeing mainly trucks with much bigger lifts then just 2 inches front and rear with the most severe problems . I am going to definitely add sumo springs and maybe their extra support could help minimize axle wrap?

So i was at the dealership and talking with my parts guy and one of their mechanics. Both guys i trust very much and have dealt with for years.

We are going with a 1" block in the rear instead of an AAL which should even the ride out since i have a 1" drop when truck bed is empty and a pair of SSR-610-40 1000lb@50% Sumo Springs. These will have the bed resting on them constantly and be good support for the suspension but not allow any sag with my rescue training gear of about 150lbs.

The 612's have a 1" gap and although i might get a slightly stiffer ride and maybe a tad more bounce i dont mind this at all. Being Ex-Military im used to vehicles with stiffer suspension and anything that feels to squishy just bothers the hell out of me. If i dont like the blocks i can always still go with an AAL later .

Plus these are going to be dealer installed so nothing will interfere with my warranty. :D

Are you asking me or the OP?

I'm running bump stops and the overload left in with the 3 leaf AAL.

92247D2C-A683-4FD2-A47C-7351B4BCEF2C.jpg California “Bro-lean” has been vanquished!!

1” spacer and a set of 610 Sumo-springs and the stance is much nicer and even in my opinion. With the springs at least I can load up my gear and not have the trucks ass look like it’s got a 1/2 full diaper. Ride even feels better with the sumo springs.

Need some better AT tires and a skid plate before I try any work in the back of my cottage but that’s for later in summer .
